need help on I 134

Guys and gals...PLease do help me.

We are preparing I 134 in advance and we came accross on the instruction that says..

....If you are outside the US ,the affidavit of support must be sworn to or notice affirmed before a US consular immigration officer..

DOes this means he have to go to US to have it notarized?

or

Can he have it notarized by a military notary public in his base?

Is the military notary public limited only to US military personnel????

He can have it notarized outside US, he can do it in the consulate of the country he is in right now.

Hi thanks chris-lei..

The problem is he is on a different base and im not sure if they had established already a US embassy in Iraq..Its kind hard to travel from base to base there..not safe...

Military JAG offices usually provide some services for DOD contractors in foreign countries.

He should definitely check with them first at his local base

Fiance checked already and yes they will notarize it.Now our concern is will the COnsul accept a I 134 notarized in a military base?

would it even be possible for him to leave his base and go to the us embassy?! i mean he is deployed and in a war zone....

i hope the consul at your interview wont give you any problems since your fiance is just doing his job right now and its not his fault not being able to go to a us embassy to get it notarized!!

The consul will accept it. They realize that in a war torn country they cannot expect one to be able to stroll over to the US Embassy to have paperwork taken care of. The US military JAG office is as good as any notary in the US or one in their embassies.

The big issue is that the notary has to have US authority, and not be under the authority of another nation's laws. The US military certainly meets that requirement.
