why does it have to be one way or the other.... mean and rude or sunshine and rainbows?? where is the middle ground...??

there is a way to tell people the truth without coming off all mean etc...

thats part of the prob. everyones idea of (the truth) will be different based on their own experiences and opinions, then depending on how the reader reads it

I'd say even if someone posts a personal thread about a serious issue and they were a bit tactless - perhaps they made it too personal, they still deserve respect. I agree that this isn't the place to solve relationship issues, but it can and should be a place where members can find someone who'll lend them an ear, or just let them vent.

I have always tried to live my life- both in 'real time' and here on-line - by the code of treating people the way I would like them to treat me. I want to be treated with respect, with kindness, with a degree of 'hale friend, well met', and to quote Ewok - 'with dignity'. I like that word. If some one chooses to treat me differently than I wish they would, it does not mean that I respond to them the same way (although it does raise the question, do they want to be treated with the same sort of jeering, belittlement and criticism? Hmmm). I will still do my best to treat them with the respect and the integrity I wish they would show me. I owe it to myself as well as to them.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I agree 100%...

The reason we are here is to find out tips and shortcuts to filing for immigration

I don't understand how topics on how to decorate my house, etc like i have seen here end up here....and I try not to get involved in the drama and soap opera ####### and venting that goes on about personal issues...if you aren't venting about immigration or one of its agencies or workers...go talk to your best friend or mom...don't post that stuff here. This place isn't meant for that kind of stuff. Maybe you can find a site out there for that type of blogging....but not here.....I find myself shocked at times when I read some of the topics and replies....and many times people generally have an attitude which is very concerning since this is a site for helping people...

Topics should be kept to the point and concerning the hot topic we are all here for, immigration. And of course...leave your negative comments and remarks for your own mind or personal between you and your friends. Don't vent them here.

You could even send a personal message to the person if you are so compelled...which to me means you have way too much time on your hands!

Yala...keep it nice!!!! Shukran....

I think if this question was asked in the "upper forums" we would see a big shift in the responses. If there is one iota of "how does this affect my immigration journey" IMHO - hands off on the moral judgments.

Off Topic & some of the "lower" forums are their own own planets.

Well, sure, I agree with you, Dev. But what if the topic isn't about their spouse?

I know this is an internet forum, but I would still think that common decency should prevail.

I don't disagree with that. But you are familiar with VJ, no?

Anyone who asks for advice on a public message board opens up a can of worms, as Troll said.

I just can't believe people talk (badly) about their spouse so openly. What if the spouse were to stumble on it one day? Pi$$ed off wouldn't begin to cover it. And this isn't the first time that OP has aired her feelings about her spouse on VJ.

True and I agree with that as well. Still, I don't think that gives people the right to be so rude. And I am well aware that it's the internet and people will do as they see fit....I just don't like it :P

Just go to the mall, walk up to the first person you see for advice and spill your guts! Its quite normal really. :bonk:

Apparently people see me as that person. Strangers tell me the weirdest and most personal stuff all the time. And I don't mean students or their families. Literally strangers....in the grocery store, gas station. It's so odd.

And Marilyn, I brought up the rainbows and sunshine :) I figured if I said "fluffy kitties" someone would scream.

I'm WFH today so I'm flopping in the wind, as they say.
