Hello I was married this year on Febuary 18 in the Philippines. I am in just the beginning part of this process and am wondering which is the quickest way to go. The place where I will be filing is Vermont. I thought do live in Portsmouth NH where the visa center is located. Just now my wife is in Cebu taking the seminar that is needed for her to obtain her passport. Thank you.

CR1 is likely your fastest way to a green card. K3 is likely your fastest way to get a visa. Which is the best choice for you will depend on your budget and priorities.

There are two types how can you get your wife, you may file K3/CR1. K3 has shorter leadtime yet a lot of paper works to be done compared to CR1.

If ur in hurry to get your wife, file for K3. But i suggest CR1 is much better, process takes 6-12 months only. Thank you

A K3 is usually around 1000 bucks or more, more expensive:

For CR/IR (I-130)

Application $355.00

Affidavit of Support Fee $ 70.00

Visa Fee $400.00 (After Jan 1, 2008)

Medical Fee $ 214.00 (Peso equivalent)

Removing Conditions* (I-751) $545.00

Apply US Citizenship $675.00

Total* $2259.00 (*$1714.00 if granted a 10 year GC)

For K-3 (I-130 + I-129F)

Application (K-3 no charge) $355.00

Visa Fee $131.00 (After Jan 1, 2008)

Medical Fee $ 214.00 (Peso equivalent)

Adjustment of Status (I-485) $1010.00

Removing Conditions* (I-751) $545.00

Apply US Citizenship $675.00

Total $2930.00 (*$2385.00 if granted a 10 Year GC)

* If granted a 10 year green card, there's no need to remove conditions.

Hi if you are filing in Vermont welcome to limbo. The delays are long right now and you should expect a long delay. Normally I would recomend going with the IR-1 process since it is cheeper and once she is approved she gets her Green Card right away. However, if you don't mind paying a higher fee then go with the K-3 process. It will be much faster in Vermont and there is the possibility the will process the I-130 first and you will get the Green Card anyway.
