This was actually quite good for a piece of genre fiction (considering the initial source anyway) - although it is extremely nasty. See this if you want to see:

A weird ogre monster rip off a woman's skin and throw it at the door of a church.

A church full of people being dismembered and torn apart by living barbed wire.

A female cop get beaten with pipes and later graphically burnt at the stake by fanatics.

The main character get chased through a dingy basement by hideous mewling baby-things and other weird S&M-type torture-creatures that look right out of hellraiser.

As you can see, I manage to pick the perfect 'date' movies - the night before I took the wife to see the Poseidon Adventure remake, which features graphic death scenes and a massively excessive bodycount.

We were actually expecting something along the lines of The Ring, you know - creepy type horror movie.

This was more like - someone takes a wrong turn and ends up in hell. Literally.

sounds like a good movie might have to check that one out!

I liked the first two hellraiser movies after those two they just got goofy.

I don't care how old the exorcist movie is it just creeps me out everytime i see it. :diablo:

I seen Silent Hill.. I liked it. I like horror movies, but for the most part, most of them all suck :-(

Anyone every play the game(s) about Silent Hill? I never had... so not sure how the movie fit with the game.

If you want to see a movie that looks *exactly* like the game it was based on...that has the same gaping plot holes the games had...to basically feel like you're sitting in front of a giant version of the game only this time you don't have the controller and you can't turn it off...

Yeah. Go see Silent Hill. As far as video game based movies go, it's excellent. The game is creepy, and the movie captures that creepiness *perfectly*. What a fantastic job they did in getting the atmosphere right!

As a standalone movie, I'm not sure I'd tout its merits, but since I am a fan of the games, I thought it was, on the whole, absolutely excellent.

For a great horror movie rent 'Dog Soldiers' and his 2nd movie'Descent'

Both movies are top - I'm a long time horror fan (alas the genre has more than its fair share of non-scary turkeys - movies more so than books) but Descent actually gave me serious creeps!

I'll admit I liked Dog Soldiers... but I personally wouldn't classify that as horror... though the whole werewolves killing people I guess it could fit in that catagory... it's Kiddie Horror then :-D
