Yep I did!

I went to get my criminal record check. Mine was taking a little longer than others.

The guy comes up and says 'you have an outstanding parking warrant that has to be dealt with before this will be released. An officer will be up to deal with you'.

So ok fine the cop comes up and we go for a walk, he says the boys need to wait in the lobby because we are going to cells. My son asks if I am going to jail. I said yea lol. The cops says 'not necessarily'...ummmm #######??

So as we are walking down to cells he says 'you are under arrest....' and reads me my rights. I am like ummm I am under arrest? He asks if I want an attorney....I said can't I just pay it and he laughs and says I think so.

So we go down to booking in cells....the chick is not sure what to do, they are ready to fingerprint me and take my picture when another cop comes in so the arresting cop says to him 'what do we do with a parking warrant' the other cop looks at me and says 'do you have $40?' I say yep. He says then pay me and you can be on your way.

So I did and the arresting cop took me back upstairs....I said 'this was probably a $5 ticket I should have paid' he just laughed and said he does it all the time lol.

I went back upstairs and got my record check...should have taken 5 minutes.

So now I have been under arrest!!!

Casey says I was not under arrest because I was not fingerprinted or booked....but I say yes I was because he said you are under arrest and read me my rights.

Yeah, and just like on TV but instead of saying "we're taking you downtown missy" they said "we're taking you downstairs". And you know that if you would have offered $40 to get out of it, they'da said you're trying to bribe, but since they were the ones to ask, it was alllll good.

WOW, was your heart kinda pounding? mine would have been!!

This reminds of me of an incident last year with my fiance. It was the night before I was to fly into Winnipeg. He calls me and tells me he is being arrested. Of course, I am flipping out. I was calling his roommate trying to figure out what was going on. He was arrested and taken to the police station. He was interrogated for 6 hours. A few hours before my flight is scheduled to leave. He calls me and tells me that he was arrested because they thought he was somebody else. Mistaken identity. Unbelievable! Another guy in the apartment complex he lived in was breaking into the laundry facilities and taking the loonies out. It wasn't my fiance but he said on the tape that they had it looked just like him with the exception that the real robber had a scar on his left cheek. While they interrogated him at the station, they came and ransacked his apartment. They interrogated his roommate too. They assured him that this would not show up on his RCMP report.

He is ordering this as soon he gets back to Canada next week. What a nightmare!
