I have my interview tomorrow in Denver and from other posts I see many have bought their US spouses with them. I wasnt asked to on my interview letter, although I wanted him to come but he has issues at work he needs to deal with so will be working from home in the mornign and watching our daughter. Is there any problem with him not coming with me?

You should be fine. I went with my husband expecting to go in the interview and was not allowed. I had to stay out in the waiting room. Also, a friend was in your same situation, and they just asked where her husband was. She explained he was watching their baby, nothing else was said.

Good luck!

If at all possible, I recommend that your husband attend the interview. If not, bring your daughter's birth certificate. DNA is definitely proof of a relationship. Good luck!

Hi Cal.

The interview is yours and I don't believe spouses are even allowed. I was just there Friday and no one asked me to come in with Marilyn or even bothered to look if I was in the room.

Marilyn and Peter.

Spend another $40 for I-693 form, sent to local USCIS office registered mail, arrived March 11 2005

AOS finally approved March 25th 2005

Green card arrives about 10 days later

!!Green card has incorrect middle name!! Thanks USCIS

Travel back to Denver, turn in card and I-90 to correct their mistake.

Application accepted, asked for I-551 stamp, they told me "We don't do stamps anymore"

Our interview letter instructs the applicant to bring in all the original documents that should include that your husband is a US citizen, if they even ask to see them. Only one woman reported here the interviewer requested to meet the husband, I guess to prove she was really married.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency in this matter, our interview letter likewise does not say the spouse has to be there, but many of the applicants reported when they did show up, they were not allowed to attend the interview with their applicant spouse.

I went with my husband because someone on this board said that they had their interview and then they wanted to see her husband, who was sitting in the car down the street. She called him, and he came up. So I went two weeks ago and we asked if I could come in and the woman said no.

Time is running out, Thursday is only a couple of days away, have to scrape together a couple of bucks for gas, check the tires and oil and get on the net for road construction advisories. I will definitely take my wife, a long drive, road construction and detours, and give her a chance to relax.

We were playing Family Feud, by listening to track two of that learning civics CD they gave us to see who could come up with the answer first, she is doing very well. I blew a couple of questions, when they asked what is the United Nations good for, could only think of nothing and the advantage of becoming a US citizen popped up with the right to vote, when the correct answer was you can get a job with the USCIS.

Also better not listen to the news so we both realize that we have three branches of government, that's easy to forget the way things are going now.

Well im all done. YAY!!! Passed the interview just fine. The immigration officer was very nice. She started off with the civics questions...which was good as that was what I was the most worried about. She had me write a sentence and read out a couple. Then she just went over the application to make sure all the info was correct and current. She asked me the questions about ...have you ever been arrested etc etc as she looked through. I showed her a couple of original documents that had already been submitted...like my daughters birth certificate. And then it was pretty much over. Took about 15-20 mins all up. Very easy.

I did tell her I have a couple of trips booked in the next 2 months, and she wrote down the dates and told me they would try and slot me in for the August 20 Oath ceremony.

Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up.

Here you go;

1/05/08 - N-400 sent to NSC

1/10/08 - NSC cashes check

1/16/08 - Received NOA1 for N-400. Notice (NOA1) states we should expect to be notified within 450 days. Glad that fee increase gave us the results the USCIS promised!

5/8/08 - FINALLY received biometrics notice for 5/20/08. The USCIS website still does not acknowledge our service center number though and I cannot track any touches or updates. We have also found out that we cannot use the 800 number because it asks for our service center number and since it isn't registered, it hangs up on us.

5/20/08 - Biometrics completed at Denver. In and out in 15 minutes.

6/6/08 - Received interview letter today for Friday, July 11, 2008 @ 10:30am in Denver.

7/11/08 - Marilyn has her interview. Lasts for 17 minutes and she passes with flying colors. 10 for 10 on the questions.

Marilyn and Peter.
