Hi, quick question:

In case a joint sponsor is used, does it matter if the co-sponsor resides in a different state (far away) from the petitioner? I have a suspicion (or paranoia) that USCIS may not like a co-sponser living a great distance from the petitioner. Anyone familiar with this scenario?

Thank you.

:time: It will make it a lot easier for people to answer you. ;)

In answer to your question, no. As long as that person is a USC and meets the criteria you should be all set. That being said, if you are still at the interview stage, you will want to check with the Consulate in Thailand and what their requirements are as far as the affidavit of support is concerned as each Embassy has different 'rules'.

If you are talking about the interview stage of the K1 process you will both be filling out I-134 not I-864. See this link.

If you are talking about I-864 and are married and at the Adjustment stage of the process you should be all set.

They'll be more concerned about relationship between the cosponsor and couple than location. For instance a close friend is a better choice than an elderly grandparent.
