What is the best way to do this? Should my wife use the name on her green card or the name on her passport when she gets an airline ticket?

Definitely use the name that is in her passport - that is her international travel permission and it needs to match the tickets. Her green card is her proof that she is allowed to enter the US to live. Carry a copy of the marriage certificate with the passport and green card to 'connect' the two together:-). Of course, if she is traveling domestically - inside the US - then she can use the name that is on her greencard or her State ID/Driver's License as that would be the ID she would show boarding her flight.

Doesn't really matter if it's domestic travel.

Of course....you will use the ID that matches the name on the ticket....It doesn't need to be the name on the passport, but I think the OP can figure that out
