Yes, I do consider it to be more than stupidity, it does indeed show that these people have no conception of how to interact with normal human beings. However, to suggest that it would be appropriate to deal with people who transgress these norms in such a manner is equally absurd.

If I go around killing people because they protest at funerals I don't think I would be any better than they are. You may think that 'turning the other cheek as it were is spineless'. I don't. I believe that retaining a semblance of dignity and control in the face of such ignorance is the best option and requires a great degree of courage to accomplish.

Just out of interest, do you believe in god? I have to confess I thought you were an atheist. Only wondered because of the 'sacred service' phraseology.

An idea of revenge which just crossed my mind: if one (or more) of the Phelpsian chopf##ks die(s), then plan protests at THEIR funeral(s)--enlisting some of the families affected by the Phelpsians earlier to participate.

I don't think I will ever understand the logic of punishing stupidity with acts of brutal violence.

I don't think I'll ever understand being so spineless and hanky-wringing as to allow stupid bastards like WBC to ruin an event that is a family's last chance to say goodbye to a family member. Do you really only consider that stupidity? I consider it complete and total disregard or empathy for the feelings of others, the desecration of a sacred service, harassment, an abuse of the US legal system, and assorted other offenses.

Well, if you live in a 'civilized' society they do and they have the 'right' to impartial justice not vigilante style dispraportionate retribution type treatment however much you and your ilk might like to 'decivilize' society and expect everyone to jump up and down and demand 'eye for an eye'.

You can't prevent people from being stupid and/or crazy, certainly not by culling people (not that I take such comments particularly seriously in the first place). I can't help but think that if a person were to do that - sooner or later they'd have to turn the gun, knife, noose, poison gas on yourself...

What level of ignorance/stupidity would merit death? I mean - there's Kelly Pickler "Is France a Country? / There's a country called Turkey?" stupid and "I left my child/elderly parents in a hot car and let them die of heatstroke" stupid.

Its weird that Saudi Arabian justice always seems to be brought up in relation to judicial sentences that are deemed too lenient; but at the same time the same people condemn them as the worst of the worst when we talk about human rights violations and the "superiority" of our Judeo-Christian liberal democracies.

Usually its about negative emotional transference - the sort of m*sturbatory "I want to be Dirty Harry and dish out my brand of justice" wish fulfilment stuff. I can well understand that sort of desire from the victims of crime, or their relatives - but not from people totally unconnected to it and basing their response on news headlines. Its very terrible to say - but I think that empathy is pretty far down on the list of priorities when people start talking about this stuff.
