That might be the case for the kids - but I'd rather doubt that the adults in that church-cult were homeschooled.

Fred Phelps, and I believe one of his daughters as well, are both attorneys.

I think about a dozen of them are lawyers.

Anyone who thinks a funeral is an appropriate place to protest a public issue or a private matter has serious problems. I doubt a law suit would do any good though, because of the 'freedom of speach' issue. Sad. These people should be ignored, attention seeking is their aim and they should get none.

As I stated earlier in the thread, I "suggested" a lawsuit because at least one judge (in MD) had the sense not to buy their "freedom of speech" arguments (as well as their attempt to wiggle out by "we ain't got that much").

Its a shame you can't pelt people with rotten fruit and vegetables anymore... These people would be perfect candidates...

Of course - 1000 years ago, they would be the ones throwing the rotten tomatoes as they force some poor woman into a ducking stool.

A more tempting idea (see the pic in the WND link I posted about their planned protest of Tony Snow's funeral) would be to ask them to wear an actual RC (with myself holding the remote) IED made with "kipper" Semtex while holding the sign.

I don't think they'd like to "walk the talk" too much.

Yes, I can see how that solution would be entirely in keeping with a funeral setting. Seriously, these people should get no media attention, the people at the funeral should be dignified and simply pretend they don't exist. They would continue to try to get a rise from people, but we don't have to descend down to their lowly level of social interchange.

I don't think I'll ever understand being so spineless and hanky-wringing as to allow stupid bastards like WBC to ruin an event that is a family's last chance to say goodbye to a family member. Do you really only consider that stupidity? I consider it complete and total disregard or empathy for the feelings of others, the desecration of a sacred service, harassment, an abuse of the US legal system, and assorted other offenses.

Better than the potato is 90 g of sugar in each of their fuel tanks (achieves same, and has the bonus of giving them a whopping repair bill). :) Edited by CherryXS
