I have been called a beer snob because I have gone over to someone's house and they're only offering one type of beer and I won't drink it. I'll stick to water. I don't drink a beer just because its a beer, it has to have a great taste. My husband and I are planning a European pub crawl. I love to try new beers and I am always open to something I have never heard of. I don't particularly enjoy American mass produced beers, I love checking out local microbreweries or imported beers. Theres so much out there... why drink #######? :P

Yea leave it to the native to bump the beer thread! :P

Anyhoo, I don't know if anyone has ever tried Smuttynose, probably the New England peeps. Its really good and I am drinking their winterale right now. Its actually unlike any beer I have ever had and has a nice tart aftertaste. If you like a darker beer I suggest this one. I was always drinking Full Moon for my winter ale, but this beats that hands down and Blue Moon is one of my faves.

smuttynose huh?? I don't think hubby has tried this..

He loves Sam Adams dark

Yea I was going to get the Sam Adams winter ale last night but saw Smuttynose and was immediately drawn in. I can't wait to eventually try the other kinds. I like Sam Adams hefeweizen the best and the cherry wheat is good too.

Anyone like Holland Brand?

sorry flames, that should have been if you don't like rum and coke only rum and cherry coke.

I say the whole beer snob thing is .... silly, just because you don't like a certain kind of beer, doesn't imply 'snob' imo

I have heard of it, just think it's a silly label

cheers

Its a silly sure, but so are body length thermal underwear and people still wear those.

I have no problems with the term myself, it just means I like better beer. :P

Anyways back to talking about GOOD beer. :bonk:

Karlovacko

DAB

Stella Artois

Grolsch

Pilsner Urquell

Stella is one of my favorites too. Its funny though because over here its considered a decent beer but over in England they call it "wife beater"

We lovingly refer to each other as a beer and coffee snob. It's more a joke than anything. We like out of the ordinary beer and coffee (Gene the beer). We KNOW about beer and coffee, and seek out places that offer something "different". May be silly, but we have fun with it! Maybe purist is a nicer word? :hehe:

That's exactly what we call it - with good reason!! Seriously, that sh!t is a mystical, ###### up brew that makes you do very, very strange things. It also gives you the worst hangover in Christendom, too. I quit drinking that a long time ago - dangerous stuff.

Bang on the money there, Chuck. I live (or will be living) in the St Louis area, so it's all about AB products, but I love my MGD. And after discovering Warsteiner (by virtue of the good folks at Lufthansa serving it on their planes) I've become a big fan. Ditto most German beers actually, due to them being brewed in strict accordance with the Reinheitsgebot.

Tons of great beers here Damian! My husband has done a brewery tour of England, and fancies himself a connoisseur (aka snob) He won't drink AB products.
