Bo's gonna get me to try 'Blue Moon'...It's a pale ale, served with an orange wedge, brewed in Raleigh....

Hmmm... I thought it was brewed at the Blue Moon's Sandlot Brewery in Colorado.....

YMMV

Molson XXX

Stella

Miller Light.

Coors light makes me feel like I am drinking tangy water.

I love my beer. I don't really do hard alcohol.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

KEITHS! ( can you tell I'm a Nova Scotian):D I'm so upset that I won't be able to get it at all in NC...hell, it's considered "imported" in Montreal!

My first beers were Alpine...I know, 'Moose piss"...but it has to be New Brunswick Alpine...Dartmouth brewed tastes different.

I love Rickards (Red and White preferably), Guiness, Stella, Corona...

Bo's gonna get me to try 'Blue Moon'...It's a pale ale, served with an orange wedge, brewed in Raleigh....

I just adore beer. Don't ever ask me to drink a Blue though....Not even happening.

<3 Jen

I hear ya. I loved Keith's beer, all I ever drank in N.S. When I got here I tried many different brands searching for something close to my beloved Keith's.

After many variety packs, Lorry's daughter introduced me to Killians Irish Red. It's very similar to Keiths in body and taste. Very nice beer, give it a try if you can get it in N.C. I think you'll enjoy it

I will definitly try and find Killians when I'm down next week. It would be nice to have something close to enjoy.

Since I moved down here, I'll drink anything with a Samuel Adams label on it. They're all really good, and I like the seasonal packs that'll have a few different flavours in it. We currently have a 12 pack of Summer Ale in the frige, as they didn't have any seasonal 12 packs at the store :(

We also have 1 can of Boddington's Pub Ale left (English import)

If I don't buy Sam's I usually buy an English or Irish import. There are a couple of micro-brews around that are good, but we don't get to them often enough. One of them was selling in stores for a short while, but I haven't seen them in quite some time so I guess they stopped. :(

When at home I like Sleeman's (nope, not available in the US). Algonquin is good too, (Ontario micro, apparently recently bought by Brick.) Trafalgar Brewery (Oakville?) used to supply the Ontario Rennaisance Faire (before it died) and they have some pretty good brews and meads.

I prefer the English style of brews, darker heavier. I don't really like the German or Belgian styles, but there are some that are ok.

Bit of trivia...Canadian brews were styled after English brewers, and US brews were styled after the German. Hence, the difference in major label beers. Anheuser, Coors, Miller, they all just give me instant headaches.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Guinness is when I started drinking imported beer. I was drinking coors one night at a pub in college and I tried a guinness, and after that I stopped drinking cheap beer. :D

I can't say that I am going to miss Canadian beer at all! There are sooooo many microbrews in the US that are so much better than any that I have found here!

My all time favorite is Bell's in Kalamazoo, Mi. They make a lot of really hoppy beers including one called Hopslam which is limited to one batch per year and is excellent! They also have a summer beer called Oberon that is a really refreshing weissbier with a bit of an herbal flavor. Unfortunately there was some issue with the distributor that has the Illinois rights, so it is now unavailable in that state. I will occasionally drive when I go to Chicago, and always have a big beer order to pick up at Bell's on the way.

Other notables... Three Floyd's brewery, which is somewhere in Indiana... they have one called Gumball Head that is pretty Yum! It also has a great label, which is always a good beer attribute :D

Meantime Coffee Porter is the ideal beverage if you are supposed to go out but your ### is dragging. It wakes you right up! It's also a good breakfast beer, I suppose, if you ever feel that you want one of those :D

I have discovered that Canada can't do IPA. Keith's is NOT one at all. It may be a (very) pale ale, but it bears no resemblance to any real IPA. They are generally a lot hoppier, and somewhat heavier... often with a slightly apricot or otherwise fruity flavor.

My favorite lightish semi-flavorless frequent drinking beers: at home - PBR -- hey... it's cheap and it tastes better than similarly priced alternatives :P In Chicago - Old Style, which is pretty similar to PBR, but with very slightly more flavor.

When at home I like Sleeman's (nope, not available in the US).

Some Meijers stores in Michigan stock Sleeman's. Since it is shipped to the US, you may be able to put in a request with a store in your area and get some.

There is a bar not far from me that has sleeman's on tap.

I like most of the sam adams seasonals. Used to live in Chicago and it was bigger there. Living in Milwaukee is a little different. A ton of beer - just specific ones. Most bars promote Miller products instead of out of towner's. So that means instead of Sam Adams seasonals - most bars have Leinenkugel's seasonals.

However now that Miller is now the same company as MolsonCoors maybe we'll get more BlueMoon around here. The summer seasonal for BlueMoon is HoneyMoon.... I like it very much.

I'm a picky beer person. Hoegaarden, Spaten, Modelo negro, Sam Adams, etc....

Yea leave it to the native to bump the beer thread! :P

Anyhoo, I don't know if anyone has ever tried Smuttynose, probably the New England peeps. Its really good and I am drinking their winterale right now. Its actually unlike any beer I have ever had and has a nice tart aftertaste. If you like a darker beer I suggest this one. I was always drinking Full Moon for my winter ale, but this beats that hands down and Blue Moon is one of my faves.

mmmmmmm beer.

Best Beer experience was drinking Guinness at the Factory in Dublin Ireland. Since then, I've loved it! As I've stated here before, everybody knows I also love my Keiths. Honorable mentions include Sleeman Cream Ale, and Moosehead.

I very very very much agree with the statement about the micro breweries here. I've heard soo much smack from any Canadian about how American beer is just weak and watery, but the selection I've seen is MUCH higher then anywhere in TO. Bier Market had nothing on Columbus!
