Hello fellow vj members.

Younes went on his interview on July 8th, and everything seemed to have gone ok. Except they handed him a form stating that they could not give him his visa at this time due to, they have more processing to do on his application. The woman said they were going to fax washington, and wait for their returned fax. She told him that she would call him as soon as she received it. I at this time am going crazy becuase i'm not sure what all this means. They also did not take his passport. I've looked on here and noticed that everyones passport was always taken and returned to them at a later date. So if anyone could explain what's going on, or what I should do, I would greatley apprciate it.

It sounds like he is on AR/AP. Did he receive a form and if so was it a 221g (I think thats what its called)

If so, they are more-than-likely doing more background checks to make sure his name is clear of any criminal charges. It is very common in the MENA to get this. I hope this helps some.

you actually should have the contacts made before the interview, get with one of your state reps immediately, sign the privacy forms, tell them all about your case and let them do the checking for you. It may take contacting a few different ones to find one that works well with immigration. Look up in the computer your state senators and reps

It does sound normal for Casa. If it's any reassurance, they didn't keep my husband's passport nor those of several people we know. They gave him a 221(g) saying further administrative processing was needed. They called him after two weeks to return with his passport and get the K-1 visa. But as brnid said, do contact your representative to be on the safe side. Casa is unpredictable.

I'm the USC.

Youkaye: I have heard of very few passports being kept in Casa in the nearly 2 years I have been around MENA. Like the others said, short of asking your congressperson to check the status, there isn't anything to do but wait. I watched a lot of people get their visa in 2-3 weeks at the time my husband interviewed. He waited nearly 3 months, but he's here now and all that is a distant memory.

It's going good. Just waiting and waiting. The interview went well. I waited outside at the coffee place with his dad for 3 hours and Badr said they asked him questions for about 20 minutes. He was one of the last people to get interviewed that day. There was a guy there waiting for his interview that recognized Badr and I from our pics on here. LOL, kind of famous.

I made a huge binder for him filled with so much proof. We had about 2000 pages of IM's on a CD waiting if they needed more. I had them all indexed so they could see dates and numbers. We had a 200 photo album and a 40 page small scrapbook that I made for him. They didn't look at any of the pictures. They didn't look at any of the proof from the binder. They did keep my 2007 tax return and my W2's from 2007. I did put a lot of proof and 4 photo collages in the initial packet. So maybe they didn't feel the need to see any more proof. They did ask him a question about an IM convo that I sent in the original petition. They asked very little questions about me. The lady did ask questions about my daughter and about his ex-wife. He said that he stayed calm and collect and understood every question and never had to have anything repeated.

That's about it.

I have to admit I have been curious about your interview. His situation is unique to say the least. Please let us know how things progress.
