PRIDE - what does it mean to you

From a past discussion on PRIDE i see it interesting all the different ways people look at that word. What is your opinion? is pride good or bad? what makes it become a good thing, or bad thing. Do you see it more in one group compared to another? What part does religion play?

I do ask when speaking of other groups or religions we keep it nice and dont point fingers

Yes it can become confussing, seems it is still a good thing when used in the right way as stated, be proud and take pride in yourself, kids etc but not to the point of expressing it to others to over power them kind like showing off, but does religion say its a bad thing? or would that be only when used the wrong way

I'm so proud to be in the same country that New Jersey's in. It makes me feel like I'm better than everyone else.

There is nothing wrong with a little pride! I believe it causes problems for us when we start thinking we are superior or better than most people around us.... Humility is the opposite of Pride and believe me I have a few times in my life when I had to humble myself because of Pride.

Pride can be good as long it doesn't affect people around you.... My 2 cents!!

I think pride is a very good thing. Everyone should be very proud of who they are, what they do, their religion, etc. If you are not proud of who you are, you probably have something to be ashamed of. And even then, all of the choices we make in life helps to develop us into who we are today. If you are a good person, even if you made bad decisions in the past, they have helped you become a better person. So, unless you are a bad person now, you should always be proud of who you are.

I think that pride becomes a bad thing when you feel that it makes you better than someone else. Nobody in this world is better than anyone else, just different. This is when the problems arise, when your pride makes you try to force someone else to be just like you. Or you try to point out why you are better than someone else.

I think we all know the difference. Pride as in self worth is a great thing, pride as in boastfulness is not.
