I have never bought a soft drink at a theater, I've always had it in my purse. Not sure about in the States, but in Brazil if you buy 1 coke for let's say 0.75, you'll pay 2.00 at the theater, and I ain't made of money. The same if I want to eat something.

well at some of the theaters I have been too they check your purse to see if you have brought anything in....

I have to say that checking purses for snack is a bit extreme, unless they were checking for bombs! :hehe:

That's still a bit crazy considering that theater attendence has gone way down over the last several years.

Bottle of water and any candy courtesy of Target :)

We do buy popcorn at the theater though.

We rarely go so it's not a huge deal.

If theatre catches you, it's likely you'll get ejected; but I have no objection to not wanting to get stiffed for drinks/food in them, so I'm certainly going to carry either a bottle of water or can of soda in--as well, maybe a box of Jr. Mints.

I'd actually love it if movie theaters served booze instead of popcorn and soft drinks. There are several in London that do - love having a glass of wine before/during a film.

There used to be one near my mother's house in Detroit but it shut down a few years ago. Can't really think of any in the US with bards.

There's one right over near the 90 and the 405.

If they had bards, it would be a theatre; not a movie theater. So...no, I can't think of any in the US with Bards, either.

If the whole family goes to the movies, by the time we buy the tickets and food and drinks, we're usually pushing $60-$70 just to go to a movie! So yes, I find my biggest purse, we hit the gas station before we go, get our sodas, candy and whatever, then we'll get a big tub of popcorn at the theatre. :D

Whereas Mags and I wait a few months, then buy the movie on DVD for the cost of 2 movie tickets. Microwave popcorn is cheap. A bottle of Propel or a Diet Dew, and I'm much happier than I would be at a cinema. Only one loud annoying kid to deal with here, rather than 20. Well.....and Mags. :P
