Here is how it works:

Purchase your ticket in USA for your fiance and it's easy.

If you purchase a ticket in PI, then the Airline asks for Visa and Passport before issuing a ticket.

I purchased my and my fiance ticket from American Express Travel and I took her ticket over there to her.

I booked on PAL because I knew there was good chance of her being delayed.

So before I left I went to PAL ticket office and showed them the ticket and had her re booked for a later date.

The ticket agent at PAL in PI asked me how I was able to buy my fiance a ticket without a Visa, I told her cuz I bought it in USA.

I bit the bullet and paid more than I should have for our tickets...I traveled there to spend more time with her and her family, and we flew back here together; I booked the flights here in USA. That said, another option is to ask her to inquire at local ticketing offices and get a good solid peso amount for the ticket. Trust me, it will be a few hundred dollars less than if you purchase the ticket online or at a ticketing office here in America. Anyway, have her get a peso amount, and have her inform you how much it is. Do the conversion, allowing for variances in the exchange rates, plus maybe an extra hundred or so for her to spend on herself ($100 goes a long way there, as I'm sure you know), and then send it to her via Western Union. Yes, you'll pay a decent fee to send her the money, but you'd still save on the airfare. Oh, and PAL might give her the best rates; however, you probably won't get a JFK POE if you want to get a temporary 90-day EAD stamp...we did Cathay Pacific, which is more expensive, but wasn't out of our budget at the time. Hope this helps.

I bought my ticket thru: American Express Travel : Travel Agent Dorothy Perez 800-862-2550. Extension #83803

My ticket was from Las Vegas to Manila on PAL.

You can book a ticket but it will not be issued in PI till she has Visa and Passport in hand.

Why not book it, and once your fiance has her needed paperwork, go ahead and pay for it via Credit Card.

On PAL tickets are good for one year

my fiance bought me a ticket online and he put my email add as the receiver so I got the e-ticket in my email and I printed them out. When I left the PI last June 20 the printed e-ticket was the only thing I gave when I checked in my baggage (of course including the passport/visa) through JAL airlines.

Note : If the ticket is bought online the fiancee will be paying Philippines Tax amounting P 1650 at respective airport of departure, higher tax if you had the business class ticket.

Von voyage!

okay we knew about the 1620 and the 750 exit tax. so i can order the ticket on line and give her email as the confirmation. and she prints out the e-ticket and she is good to go. it seems both JAL and PAL are giving me the wrong info. thanks all for the help. i was just worried about spending roughly 1k and not having her be able to fly out

wel I believe so coz thats what my fiance did and I am now here in Delaware.. You have to send her the receipt too just in case and my fiance sent me his scan debit card if ever asked but thank God the JAL officer when I checked in didn't ask for anything...as long as it is stated at the last part of the ticket where the payment shall be deducted. I printed them all.
