I'm going to Destin in a couple weeks for a few days before we head down to Key West. I've never been to Destin before so I was curious what there is to do there. Any suggestions on things that are must see or do?

It's been several years since I've been there, but if all of the following places are still there, by all means, feel free to check them out...

A restaurant called "The Back Porch"...awesome food with a great view. Ask for a table at the back with a view. And DON'T go during peak hours. You'll wait for at least an hour or two.

A bar called AJ's...right on the Gulf...good view and live music (Jimmy Buffett-style if I remember right)

There's a couple of places I think are technically in Fort Walton Beach, but just a minute or two from Destin...I remember Howl at the Moon is one of them, but there are several quality bars/clubs right there next to each other.

Of course the white sand beaches!!!

I think there's a place to bungee jump right on Hwy 98 (I think that's the main highway that goes through Destin). Never done it, but wish I had.

There's a big outlet mall in east Destin...I'm sure you wouldn't mind hitting that up

There's a club called Cash's not too far from Howl at the Moon in Fort Walton Beach. Good for dancing...and they're always advertising male strippers one or two nights a week...if you're into that kind of thing. Cash is a pretty well-known local guy with a phenomenal house on Emerald Isle (I think that's the name of the island???).

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

My family used to drive down there for a week vacation every year from KC...lot of good memories. B)

It's a pretty lame setup, but cool to me since I've never done it before. If you're interested, you can't miss it once you're in Destin. It's on the main strip.

we're staying some golf & tennis resort so I'm sure I don't really even need to leave to do anything if I don't want to. shopping is fab. i love to spend money
