has anyone tried setting up a visa interview at usem by calling the call center?

I set up my interview late this afternoon. I'll be having my medical soon but I need the visa appointment letter supposedly e-mailed to me by the person I talked to. It's been a couple of hours and I still haven't received anything. She even told me "the email has already been sent" right after I set up the appointment. I'm reluctant to call again because it's so expensive! It'd cost around P150/3 mins! Has anyone had a similar experience? Did you get the visa appointment letter in the email immediately after you called? Also, my case hasn't even appeared yet in the USEM visa appointment interview database.

Congratulations! The USEM has had our paperwork since July 3. My wife called the call center Monday July 7 and they told her she must wait to make an appointment until she receives the packet in the mail. As of today she has still not received it.

I'm sure your letter will arrive soon. Good job getting the interview appointment and good luck with everything.

As what the call center agent told me and you, I received the appointment confirmation letter as we speak. In my opinion it is better to call them again than wait in vain. I know P150/3min call is expensive, but I guess the end will justify the means. You'll get your money's worth.

The USEM database is not updated regularly.

muddyak, i didn't even wait for packet 3 and 4 to arrive. the call center agent said it isnt necessary to wait for packet 3 to arrive before setting up the interview. the packet 3 contains the instructions of how to set up the interview. packet 4 is available online. the 2 DS documents required are available online.

Thank you. I will have my wife call again Monday. The operator she spoke to at the call center would not set up the interview and told her she needed to wait for the packet. I guess it depends on which individual you speak with.

muddyak, let your wife know that the us embassy in manila does not accept handwritten forms anymore. she has to fill out the forms online as a pdf file before printing it. God bless.

Hi there! muddyak, Are you under CR1? With CR1, NVC?consulate will do the scheduling of your wife's interview. But your wife will fill up online forms, packet 4 is now downloadable.

During my interview, some applicants filled up the forms manually, handwritten. The clerks accpeted them. But it's still better to do it computer-printed, more presentable.

Hi chris-lei.Come to think of it, the agent didn't even verify the email address. I just stated it once (without spelling it out) and she didn't read or spell it back to me. Maybe she got it wrong. I'll call tomorrow.

Packet 3 it not downloadable. The call center agent also told me that packet 4 is downloadable and even gave me the link. I saw a notice in the uSEm website issued fairly that a handwritten form isn't acceptable anymore, the DS-156, in particular. It is downloadable at travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

DS-157 is at travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html. The call center agent was the one who gave me these links. =)

Did you Check your Junk E.mail Folder? Maybe the spam filter directed the e.mail to it!!

nope, none in my spam folder. i was thinking that maybe she didn't spell my nickname correctly. it's kind of spelled in a weird way. or maybe she put in underscore as "underscore" and not _. happens all the time. hehehe.

my email address has underscore also, but the call center agent didnt have a problem with that. but i guess he/she misspelled your email address like you said. yeah, it will be better to call and clarify things up. goodluck!

yeah probably =) i'm calling them back in a few hours. it's so freakin expensive but as you've pointed out, it's worth it.

Daisychain, I'm so happy to hear you got the letter. I wish to thank everyone as well. We have applied for the K3 visa. My wife called again this morning and received an appointment for August 4. They were prompt with the verification letter.

congratulations muddyak! i'm so happy for you guys. maybe i'd bump into your wife on august 4.

btw, advice her to pay her delbros right now. sometimes, it causes in delay the issuance of visas. call me ms. worrywart heheh but i've heard of filipinas having paid delbros a month prior to the interview and it still delayed the issuance of the visa. the complete instructions for paying delbros at metrobank is at the us embassy website. in fact, i suggest she should print out the entire packet 4. i just talked to the us embassy again earlier and they said they do not mail the packet 4 anymore, since it's downloadable. oh about the handwritten forms, only the Ds-156 should be filled out and printed out online. the Ds-157 she can get when she pays the visa bill at the designated BPI or citibank branch (complete list of accredit branches are also in packet 4). they will validate the DS-157 as proof of payment.
