Hi all, I need some information on re-entry visa for green card holders who are outside of USA in excess of 1 year without a re-entry permit. I need to know what is the procedure to apply for it and is it really hard to obtain one? I am asking this for my mother who is outside of USA due to some reason and can't return before 1 year period. And, she had to leave early urgently and so she couldn't obtain re-entry permit either before leaving. Now, I am extremely worried because I do not know what are the criteria for applying for a re-entry visa if needed since she has left without the re-entry permit and by the time she would need to return her green card would be expired. Any, feedback here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

what is an SB1?

It is a special immigrant returning resident visa (SB1) for LPRs outside the US more than a year.
