Okay, never mind. I was just a little upset when I wrote that. It's really not Desmond Clark's fault. It's society's fault. Mr. Clark should be let free....again. And if he does something like this again, we're really going to have to take a serious look at ourselves as a society.

But I think we should draw the line somewhere...maybe 200 strikes and you go to jail???

Don't try to justify your sadist response by making it one extreme or another. Your post was sadistic and sick.

Okay. What do you suggest then?

It's just surprising that you actually believe televising the torture and killing of someone will deter some other monster?

Torture and kill Desmond Clark. Televise the torture and death of Desmond Clark so that maybe a few as$holes will think twice before they commit any acts like Clark has.

Okay, I feel bad for saying that now. I'll keep my opinions to myself and just let the justice system handle this guy....again. They're getting close. They'll eventually get him under control.

Keep your opinions to yourself or don't, but the question I'm asking is do you really think that what you are suggestion would work as a deterrant to another crazed monster? Do you really believe that someone who is seriously twisted would all of a sudden think...oh, maybe I won't kill those people today because I might get caught?

Yeah, my initial reaction was probably a little over the top for a lot of people. But when I hear something like that, I think about my sister. She was in an abusive relationship for a while. It scared the $hit out of our family...the thought of what could happen. Fortunately he's in jail now at least until 2018 (probably and HOPEFULLY a lot more). And she finally saw the light and would now never allow another man like that into her life.

To me though, it would be a good idea to mutilate this guy. Maybe keep a tape of it to show first-time offenders what could happen to them. It may not phase some of them...but I'll bet it would make a lot of them think twice. This Desmond Clark guy is obviously a waste of skin. Why not make a lesson out of him?

Well, partly because it would dehumanize whoever had to brutalize the guy and partly because he is someone's dad whether he's a good dad or not. He is also the son of someone and maybe has brothers and sisters. It is not possible to inflict brutality and remain detached.

I am sorry a member of your family was in an abusive relationship though, that isn't something that should be tolerated. Maybe as a society we should be more proactive in teaching what a properly functional relationship is? I don't think people are very good at recognizing them as things stand.

I'm sorry your sister and your family had to deal with that.

Maybe better to agree to disagree on the Desmond Clark part of your post. Peace

...partly because he is someone's dad whether he's a good dad or not.

A dad who killed this child's mother. He doesn't deserve the title dad or father, maybe sperm donor. He is a disgusting waste of space and his son should have absolutely nothing to do with him, lest the apple not fall far from the tree.

I disagree with stringing him up. I don't think he can be rehabilitated either. I mean look at the horrible things he did on his rap sheet. Messed up. So what do you do with these people?

Have you ever known children who had a parent killed by the other parent? It's never so simple for the child as, 'he/she is a waste of space so they don't deserve to be part of my life' The child has normal maternal/paternal feelings and to try to hide it or deny it of supress it will lead to huge problems for the child.

In any case, I wasn't suggesting the perpetrator should escape justice, but justice is not to torture the perpatrator because of these two reasons - the perpertrator has family too and the person who torture's the perpatrator can't divorce himself from the brutality of torture.

Oops! Fixed.

Once more, the child or the family of the perpetrator should not have to deal with the perpetrator being tortured. That serves no good purpose for the family who can't simply 'ignore' the fact that this is their family member despite the things they have done that are wrong. That doesn't mean the perpetrator should be let out and told to go play dad to the child.

I specifically addressed the question of 'torturing' the perpatrator. However, again, although you might think that this person is a waste of space, and maybe they even are (without knowing anything but the journalstic peice that is not a judgement I am prepared to make though) but the family of the perpetrator are the only ones who should decide if that is true for them.

i'd characterize it as primarily clark's fault, but society kept letting him get away with his behavior until this resulted. in short, society was an accomplice.
