I suspect there will be many more promotions like this. After they close all those stores, they are going to want to draw in more customers.

That giant coffee cup picture is hilarious.

I have paid for expensive coffees  ...not often though. :innocent: Just for a treat. I did ask for starbucks gift cards last Christmas and got $40 worth, that was great. I love the specialty coffees.

if I want coffee I don't mind paying for something that costs $1-5. I'm not a daily coffee drinker so it's not something I get all the time. I might reconsider if I had a $5-10/day coffee habit. I think Neil would call me nuts.

I have an espresso machine and I can make really nice coffees/coffee drinks with it. If you have the money to buy a nice one and love coffee I recommend investing in one. They come in handy.

My mom had an espresso machine and we were in a phase of using it all the time...but then we stopped. We couldn't get it to taste as good. I mostly just make regular coffee at home so for me also it's a treat when I buy a specialty coffee out.

I went to an Intelligentsia Coffee house the other day (and had chai iced tea, I might add) and apparently once a year they sell this certain kind of coffee that costs around $25 for a cup. I was like...WHAAA? No coffee is worth all that.

One of my jobs in college and grad school was at this place: www.pjscoffee.com and I am a coffee snob. I now live in Seattle, land of Starbucks. However, Starbucks will NEVER be as good as the stuff back home. It's too burned and bitter. I suppose if you spend years working in a coffee shop you start to expect a certain standard.

Iced coffee? What's with pouring hot coffee or espresso over ice? Have these Yanks never heard of cold brew/toddy brew?

I always get at least $100 a year in Starbucks gift cards from my students and while I will use them, I prefer to just make my coffee at home. It's cheaper, it's better, and I only buy Fair Trade, so I know that I'm not contributing to the raping of coffee farmers...
