My spouses GC expires in first week of August:

I have following questions:

1. Once packet is submitted what are the conditions on travel if the dates go past last date of GC

2. What are the implications on employment, as she is currently working?

3. How soon is the appointment for fingerprinting and when is the GC received?

Please reply.

Here is the link to a post where people add timelines: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...218&st=1050

After you submit the application, you should receive a Notice of Action (NOA) that extends the validity of your spouse's green card for one year. That notice plus the green card are proof of permanent resident status for employment and for travel.

Timeline for Naturalization:

Day 1: Application delivered to AZ

Timeline for Removing Conditions:

Green card received 117 days after application was delivered to USCIS

Timeline for AOS:

Green card received 120 days after application was delivered to USCIS

After filing I-751 you can expect the notice to arrive within two to three weeks, generally two weeks. About a week after that the notice of appointment for biometrics is sent. The first notice is important to keep as this is your extension of one year after the expiration of the green card. The notice of the biometrics appointment is important because it has the new case file number and you will need this to sign up for email notification.

With the extension letter you are allowed to travel in and out of the country for one year. This extension also allows employment for that time also. You might consider making a copy for the employer's file.

The appointment for biometrics is generally within two weeks of the notice being sent. So, be prepared to stick around for about 5 weeks after filing the I-751. After the biometrics you will once again return to the waiting line.

Some suggest that you use infopass to obtain a stamp in the passport to enter this country again, but my wife's girlfriend has been traveling in and out for the past year without the stamp and just her extension letter. So, it depends on how secure your feel with the letter.

I don't think need to stamp the passport if have the receipt (NOA), because with that receipt, your conditional resident status is extended for one year from your GC expired.

Here I have a bad experience, thought I lost my receipt, so I went to USCIS office to stamp my passport. The officer destroyed my GC (the one expired), and give stamp in my passport (I don't get my GC back). Same time, my driver license expired, and apply to renew my driver license. The driver license office don't take the passport with the stamp, but they would take an expired GC (company by the NOA). They don't give me driver license at all, some state take that because already have stamp in the passport. Every state is different, but Texas should take passport with the stamp.
