Hello All,

I am in a slight dilemma and am hoping that people who have been through this or are in the same boat can provide some words of advice. I filed for Removal of Conditions on June 23 (packet received by TSC). Check was cashed by Vermony on July 3. I received the Notice of Action extending residency for one year on July 7. Have not received Biometrics yet.

My concern is this: we're planning to go on vacation in the first week of August and I am worried that my Biometrics may come around the same time. I am not sure what other people have experienced when it comes to the appointment...how soon does the appointment get scheduled after the Notice of Action or the Biometrics letter?

One option was to try and book the travel around a weekend so that the chances of it coinciding with the appointment will be less.

Any words of advice?

Thanks!

Shreya

You can change you appointment if it conflicts... Usually they give a week or two advance but it depends on the location and how busy they are.

PS. ASC's are open on Saturdays

Wouldn't be great that they work in our I-751's on Saturdays as well? hehehehe.

For how long are you going?

Normally when you received the ASC appointment the actual date to go to the ASC it's one to two weeks after, but it really depends on your ASC, there are some more busy than others and the same biometrics appt can be later or earlier. You can schedule an INFOPASS before your trip (starting scheduling now because those slots go away fast) and check if you already got assing a date before the actual biometrics appt arrives.

There is the option of rescheduling but you will need to know the biometrics appt before hand.

Good luck.

I really hated that I-751 stage, USCIS really has your hands tied and with an expired green card and one year extension, can lose your job, can't renew a driver's license, and can't travel.

We were fortunate to get our NOA and biometrics appointment the same day, four letters in the mail, two NOA's for my wife and daughter and two biometric appointments fortunately on the same day, but four hours apart that is a 420 mile drive for us, but they did take our daughter at the same time as my wife. That was nice of them. But the appointment said be there or else your application would be denied, and it's not that easy to change these appointments, so even with other plans, we changed them and was there. And that required us leaving at 2:30 AM, ha, two very tired looking women on their new green cars.

Were far more considerate with the biometrics for the N-400 giving us the option to skip the first appointment with notice and going in any none holiday Wednesday at noon. So happened we already made an appointment with a consulate in Chicago three months in advance so they could get their foreign passports renewed, and we were under the impression that we needed those passports in case in needed them for the I-551 stamp since our time was running out. That was over a 600 mile drive for us that day, but when we got home their new green cards were in our mail box. This was on a Monday, the Wednesday after was back in the car headed for Milwaukee for the 3rd set of biometrics.

You have to apply for your I-751 90 days before your green card expires, and some have waited a considerable time before their biometrics appointment came in, and you don't know whether you have to be there at the assigned time or have the option for that Wednesday at noon bit. You could try an infopass appointment to explain your predicament, I believe it's at 3:00 AM they post the new schedules that gives you the most choices.

Even the IRS gives you the choice of a mutually agreed upon appointment time.

I had to reschedule my fingerprints for I-751. That was definitely the least painful part of I-751 for me! Just sent the appointment letter back with a note saying "I would appreciate a new date after xx/xx/xx." It was rescheduled for 2 weeks later from the original date (in Indianapolis).

But, as Cherr says, you would need to be in the country when the appointment letter comes, so that you can request a reschedule.

Good Luck!

Thank you everyone for giving me different options,

We're only planning to go to the Bahamas from August 4 to the 7. I am crossing my fingers that the appointment letter will come in with a biometrics date that is either before or after that. However, as long as the letter comes in before I go, I can request them to reschedule. If it comes in while we're out of town, since we're only gone for 3 days, I guess I could come back and request the date change. Hopefully, we'll have a week before the appointment.

I am also considering scheduling the info pass before we go to make sure.

I'm sure it will come before your trip... Take a look at the VSC timeline thread to compare your timelines with others... (all TSC apps are being processed by VSC)...
