:dance::dance: I am! :dance::dance:

I was fairly depressed over this most of the day. This totally means I cannot visit Ibrahim before his visa. :( We will remain separated until his visa comes. Damn, instant coffee and hand laundry is in my future. I hope you guys can put up with me for a few more months. Oh the new place...opens at 7:30 am....yea right. lol There goes my late nights on Second Life and starting daily threads. :hehe:

Oh and they wear white shirts that say Century Tile on them...lol That's pretty funny. On the bright side, I don't have to buy clothes for work. Just pants and try to keep white shirts white. I think I will make quick friends with the local dry cleaner.

Jackie

isnt that where most of us are, 7 30 is actually a good time thats when i get here, traffice isnt bad, and good benefits not to have to do a special dress, let them provide that...we can wear jeans on thursday and fridays..sounds good

Happy Friday all!!

So many cute babies in here. I was reading are article today about Push Presents ( http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../807110361/1005 ).... in Jordanian customs these have always been given/expected. Just wondering if those of you with little ones received a gift and what you got? My SO has already dropped hints that she hopes to receive something....good thing momma taught me well ;-)

Really? I have never heard of this custom. No one in my family or his practices this. Is this a religion based custom? (please say no...please say no...please say no :P )

I don't think this is a tradition for my husband's family either. I had made sure a few years ago to ask about all gift times because i wanted to make sure I wasn't going to miss a gift time for him by accident, and this wasn't something listed (he did male and female times).

Bridget-- thank you!

jackie-- it will be OK!

Good Morning MENA! Hope everyone has a great and blessed day! (F) Tonight after work Adam and I will go with my friend and his gf for dinner. I think Adam gets amazed that I do have life outside of Walmart world!

and Im also going to print the USCIS letter I received and show it to the Post Office and talk to them about that bcz them sending our letter back to USCIS seriously could have affected if we went to our AOS Interview in August. Thank GOD that World Relief got their copy of our interview and we will get it on Monday.

Have fun!

happy Friday everyone. hope its a great one!

hot and smoky here just like its been all week, we all have a cough now from the smoky air. I heard the princess coughing all night. :(

Jackie dont be upset, you know this has been coming for a while and you will probably end up somewhere way better. a few months from now you'll be wondering why you didnt do it sooner :)

Is it getting worse or better there? Are you changing the filter out in your A/C system more often? I'd give that a try. We had to do that in NV when ti was especially dusty-- and smoke is particles as well.

Yeah I have never heard of it. Usually all the gifts go to the baby. We have two traditions associated with this. Some family members will pin a piece of gold (religious symbol) to the babys clothing that they keep on for the first 40 days. The other tradition is when a newborn baby visits your home for the first time, it is customary to present the baby with a gift or money.

Also when people come to congratulate the parents at their home, they are served a cinnamon tea that has chopped walnuts in it. The belief is that the cinnamon tea helps the new mother to shed the old lining in her uterus so to encourage her to drink it, they serve it to all the guests that come. My MIL sent me 6 pounds of cinnmon, LOL.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Need some female advice - Charles, cover your ears.

I'm not the only one here around 40. I am so annoyed with how long my period in going on this month. I want to have sex with my husband.

I have been on the Pill forever and usually my period was 5 days. Recently gone to 7 and this month I'm almost into my 9th day.... #######!!!

Anyone else have this issue??? Is this more of the joys of aging?

Have a great weekend! Try to count your blessings!!

I'd see your doc about testing for endometriosis... I'm not sure how painful your cycles are, but there were a couple of years that mine would last 12-14 days.....MISERABLE, can I tell ya, MISERABLE! It was also very painful and, needless to say, I also got very anemic during that time. I wish you well and hope that it is resolved soon. (F)

Never actually heard of this, but my best friend's husband gave her a dozen red roses after the delivery and a bottle of sparkling cider to celebrate!

He discussed giving gold jewelry to a baby girl (like a bracelet) or money to a baby boy, but nothing for the mother :) He really kind of liked the baby shower idea that I explained to him. He thought that sounded like an excellent idea :)

I remember when I explained the bridal shower to my husband. They don't have showers for weddings or babys back home, people just come bring gifts whenever. When we registered, he was really surprised that we could pick what we wanted but he never thought anyone would buy the stuff. I received my entire registry at my bridal shower and he was completly in awe.

I'm thinking of trying to institute the baby shower over there :) i'm also on a one-woman mission for slumber parties. He loved the idea of a slumber party too and thought it would be so much fun for the kids. Anyway, I may not be able to get the gift-part of the bridal shower going, but i bet I could ease them into the party idea. Cake!!

So I emailed one of my 'old' bosses. Just to test the waters to see if they would be interested in talking. Now this store is literally 5 blocks from my house. I loved it there but things happen and I left. Well............ :) this afternoon my phone rings. (again) and its my old old job. Can I come in tommorrow morning and talk. CAN I? The way I figure it,,I will be back to work somewhere by Tuesday. :) alhamduilllah.
