You might be called for an interview for AOS, but only the non USC will be interviewed for the K1.

 Silly Question! I would like to ask if I am the citizen in the US, do I need to attend an individual interview after filing the K1 form?!?! Thanks a lot!

You don't have to go to the interview, but the concensus here on VJ is that it probably helps. Good Luck!!

No, the US Citizen does not need to attend an individual interview for the K-1 visa.

You will, however, attend an interview with your future-husband when you go through the adjustment of status process. :)

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

Voice of experience: Be VERY careful not to view her interview too casually. Your presence may be "necessary" without your knowing that it is! Be at the embassy and be present outside the interview room, if you can. The consular officer may not want to see you, but the simple fact that you are THERE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA can mean the difference between your fiancee's getting the visa or her getting kicked out of the interview after 4 minutes with a "More proof of relationship -- second interview -- bring your fiance!" order from the consul. It is far better to be safe than sorry.

The good news is that this is not always true. Many people receive your their GC WITHOUT an AOS interview.

A K-1 is a visa. As a USC, you do not need a visa for entry into the USA. Your fiancee applies for the K-1 visa and is the mandatory attendee at the interview.

YMMV

At my interview on June 24th I was questioned more than my fiance (25 questions in all for me) and 1 for him. No reason behind it. I just answered them as quickly as she shot them out.

Not only is it OK not to attend the interview, but some Consulates will not even allow you to attend the interview. I know the U. S. Consulate in Guangzhou China does not allow the U.S. citizen to attend the interview. The following is from the FAQ's link on the web site of the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. I'm not suggesting that this is true with all Consulates.

31. Can the petitioner attend the interview?

No. Due to space and time limitations, the Consulate cannot allow petitioners to participate in visa interviews.

I'm not suggesting that this is true with all Consulates.

And, it depends on whether one can BELIEVE the consulate.

31. Can the petitioner attend the interview?

No. Due to space and time limitations, the Consulate cannot allow petitioners to participate in visa interviews.

This is nearly identical to what my consulate's webpage said, and it was 100% untrue. The trouble is, the consulate repeated this untruth by phone when a petitioner called beforehand to confirm specifically that he did not need to be present at his fiancee's interview.

If I were the original poster, I would ensure that there is a recent, consistent, nearly-100% pattern of previous petitioners' NOT having had to be there at that consulate in order for their fiance(e)s' interviews to be successful. Only then would I consider it safe to stay home completely and not be somewhere on or around the consular premises.

My fiance just had her interview in Manila last month.

I went with her, because I wanted to experience what it was like, and secondly it was a great excuse to see her and visit "God's Country" the Philippines.

At the Interview for K1 and K3 Room.

I saw about 100 filipinos, and only 5 Americans in the room.

I was allowed to attend the interview with my Fiance, I spoke with another person doing a K3 and he wasn't allowed to go into interview room.

I personally think it's a waste of time for the petitioner to go.

But if you have the time and money, then I would say "Get It".
