I think I should produce more offsprings so then I can make Cambodia the official language.

More power to you.

Maybe America will eventually be like South Africa and have 11 official languages.

welsh people don't speak english.. it's some kind of elfin dialect

There are a lot of people there who still speak the old Welsh language, as there are Scots and Irish who speak Gaelic. A few generations and its likely to die out entirely...

Only about 50,000 native speakers, but everyone born in Ireland, and in the Irish school system, is required to take Irish classes up to leaving high school. And it's a university requirement to have passed Irish to get in. Incidentally, most Irish universities require you to have passed a foreign language too.

Now you mention it I remember reading something a few years ago that the Irish were trying to keep their language going by making it a mandatory part of the education system. Actually its a shame that latin is "dead" as it was a pretty complex language. Though if we still had latin - German wouldn't be so prevalent.

I basically never use Irish now (I live in the UK), but having learned another language from a very early age I really believe made aquiring other languages much easier.

I would also say that trying to learn a language is made waaaay easier when you can find ways to reinforce it in everyday life, which is why, in the US spanish is a good language to choose.

This cat is always outside the backyard. She likes to approach me. But, when other people approach her, she runs away. This include male and female humans. I never know this cat. Why does this cat have an affinity for me? It's really scary.

I personally don't see the harm in making English the official language of the US. It seems people get too easily offended by that idea. I am bringing India up again, but Hindi is their official language, yet they speak lots of different native languages there, English too(in many gov't and civilian businesses), as well as languages spoken by immigrants of neighboring countries. Does this hurt their other major regional languages by having an official language?

I looked up on wiki about what official language means...

one designated as having a unique legal status in the state, typically, the language used in a nation's legislative bodies, and often, official government business

Umm isn't that what English is in the US? It's just not official? Am I missing something? (probably am hehe)
