Let me know how the interview goes, and by the way i saw your reply about document to submit at VFS, and you said they did not take the medical report, after reading your post, I email the mumbai consulate and they told me that the medical report has to be submitted prior to interview or they will delay the interview, and they told me the medical report is REQUIRED to be submit at least 10 days before the interview,so they can have enough time to review it

so if i were you, i would go and submit the medical report or the you might be in trouble in getting your interview delayed..

Chintan,

I called the VFS after reading your post and the lady told me that my husband can hand carry the medical report at the time of the interview.. It is not necessary to submit at VFS. It will be all fine.. I told the interview date to her and she checked into the computer and told it is fine to hand carry.. Won't be any problem.. Also, when my husband went to Ahmedabad VFS to submit courier fee charge, they did ask him "that you do have all your documentation ready, right ?" My husband replied, "yes, everything is ready." They mentioned, we do not need anything here, just take everything at the time of interview.. So i doubled checked it..

Loto,

I am not able to clarify your sentence, "you can take the medical just 1 day before the actual interview date itself." I am able understand is that you can have your medical done one day prior to the interview as well... So you can carry the medical report to the consulate.. Do clear if i am not understanding right..

Also, thank you for responding my msg that late at night.. (F) Bani :star:

That's correct, Bani (F) . If there is no complication, normally medical can be done on the same day (both lab and doctor) and it could be just 1 day ahead of the actual interview. However, we don't take risk and do it 1 week before the interview date.

I have not been clear on this medical report thing since day 1 of the whole process. What is a medical report??? Is it a standard form like I-864, DS-230 that we have to get signed by doctor performing the medical??? Or Is it some other document that varies by who you get your medical done with??? If it's standard form, what is the number so I can see what details get filled by doctor?

thanks,

They mentioned, we do not need anything here, just take everything at the time of interview.. So i doubled checked it..

Bani :star:

Medical report need NOT to be submitted anywhere including VFS, except to the Consulate. You can take the medical just 1 day before the actual interview date itself. So, carry your medical report to the consulate interview. Hope this is clear!

I have not been clear on this medical report thing since day 1 of the whole process. What is a medical report??? Is it a standard form like I-864, DS-230 that we have to get signed by doctor performing the medical??? Or Is it some other document that varies by who you get your medical done with??? If it's standard form, what is the number so I can see what details get filled by doctor?

thanks,

CS

It is the format used by the doctor approved by the Dept. of State.

It is NOT I-693 as we do the Adjustment of Status (I-485) medical within the U.S.

It is NOT I-693 as we do the Adjustment of Status (I-485) medical within the U.S.

So, what you are saying Loto is that all doctors who have been selected by the American Embassies in India to perform medical for people travelling to US know what document to give to people who are getting their medical done. And this medical report is not the form I-693 that's used by Adjustment of Status process.

If your answers to the previous questions is Yes, is it possible for you to post your spouse's medical report for all VJers to see. Obviously, we don't need to see any personal details and any of the personal medical info. You can black out pretty much all the fields that have been filled out. I have not been able to find general report from NVC's website that my spouse would need to bring to embassay for her interview. I am just stressing out because how do I know whatever forms my spose gets from doctor after her medical exam are correct and nothing is missing?

thanks,

CS

CS, doctor gave her an envelope after the medical, which was not supposed to be opened by her. She had printed out I-693 forms as per my request before going to the medical, but it was not necessary and the doctor told her the forms they use are different. After the medical, when she went for the interview, she submitted this medical report to the first lady interviewed at the consulate. This officer arranged all her documents and forwarded to the American consulate officer. After the interview, my wife was not given this report back. Instead they put it in a sealed envelope and handed over to her along with the passport. At POE, she gave it to the POE officer and he reviewed all these again, she just glanced. Ultimately, the POE officer had forwarded these to the USCIS. When we received the Welcome Letter from Texas USCIS, it was mentioned that they received the package from the POE. That's the story!

So, you don't have to worry about the medical forms. Doctors will have it. If you need, you can just print out a "medical cover letter" from the Chennai U.S consulate web site's Packet 4 link, if your beneficiary is the applicant at Chennai Consulate.
