the more I think about it the more I like the idea of trying to get the media involved. I am sure the authorities will hide behind the 'national security' and 'privacy act' cloak but I think it would do some good just for them to be reminded that people are watching and paying attention and that treating a 70 year old man like a criminal for no reason is very offensive to a lot of people no matter where he came from. Perhaps it will make them all think twice before doing it again. who knows.

We are DEFINITELY going to proceed with a lawyer. My mother works for an international law firm and already has had counsel with an attorney who said she DEFINITELY wants to get involved. We are in the process of documenting everything and getting her all of the documents so that she can proceed. We think it's best to hold off from contacting the media until the lawyer has been in contact with Homeland Security and gets the information she needs.

I promise that I will keep you all updated on what we find out and how it proceeds.

Good luck!

I know it won't change what happened to your family, but if this can bring attention to issues such as these and hopefully help out someone else, then at least some good can come from this.

I think that is a very good idea. We all know how the media twists and turns things. It is best to have all the ducks in a row before they are notified.

Thanks for being willing to share this experience and for offering to keep us updated on it. I am anxious to hear why they detained and deported him.

Hi!

Firs of all I have to say that I m really sorry about your husbands parents that is just horrible reading your post made me in tears.

I have to say that I know exactly how you felt, I went thru the same thing in charlotte!

It was a nightmare!

I arrived in charlotte at 3 pm and i had connecting flight to florida at 6 pm.

The officer told me that I had to go and wait in a special room with other people. After 2 hours a female officer asked me to follow her to her office. When I get in to her office she asked me what I was doing here in America, how much money I had with me, then I told her the amount and then she asked; how can you have that much money? What do you work with? And where did you get your visa? I said at the American embassy in Stockholm and the reason that was coming to America again for 3 months was to visit my boyfriend.

At that point the other officer goes crazyon me, starts to yell saying; oh so you just want to get married and stay here??? It was just crazy….

After having 2 officers yelling at me for almost 2 hours having to wait in another romm for another 2 hours they tell me that I have to return to Sweden ( this Sunday night)

Then I asked them where m I going to spend the night?, the female officer tells me that I you will be staying in a room downtown.

After 30 min I see 2 coops coming up to me and they start reading my rights and handcuff me! At this point I just wanted to die, my family, john (my boyfriend) and friends dint know where I was!

So I had to spend the night in jail!

And there is so much more that happened but...

I’m so SORRY and I feel so bad for your family!

I am so angry now. I think this is a complete joke. Some Cracker jack thinks he is freaking GOD and is on a major power trip. I hope they go over seas sometime and get drilled like that and then get deported. what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

I hope you got each and every one of the Aholes, name. I hope when it is done, they will be claiming unemployment. I would make sure they have this documented in their personal and permenant employment record, So they can't get any other Goverment job, let them flip bugers at the local BK

I am sorry your FIL had this problem. I dont blame one bit how your hubby feels.

We are the UGLY AMERICANS Even in Our own Country.

I feel sorry for your son, he is missing out on some rare time with his grandfather.

Peace, we all are on your side and we all are upset and angry this happen. I hate that airport.

This is just another case of power going to their heads. Really, he is freaking 70 years old and they put him in jail? Please keep us informed. This really frightens me if we ever have my husbands mother come, what will they do to her?
