All the best to you. I agree that attorneys do not make it quicker -- they have no 'pull.' However, they do have experience in collating the documentation, and we would have absolutely made errors had we not hired one. (I only provided that info to a former enquirer because it's the only 'difference' I could think of). Yet, if you review the Ombudsman's report from late June, USCIS admits to handling what they perceive to be the easier cases first. Again, I have no clue how they determine this. Could it be that they assume attorney's know what they are doing?

All the best to you in your application. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Congratulations on your approval

Its been mentioned b4 in posts, it seems that in order to keep some I-130's adjudicated, they may choose the one's that they can process fast to cut on time. So while a lawyer cannot make one's process faster, he can and most likely submitted a neat and tidy petition. IMO this is how ppl filing recently get approved quickly.

Our cases from last year.. they seem to be a bit out of reach, dusty and not so neat looking as they were sitting quite awhile and shifted who knows how many times. There is no rhyme or reason, just ppl are human and when pressed they go for the easiest at hand. My question is why isn't anyone from the top pushing to get the old cases adjudicated???

All:

I've been reading this forum with great anxiety since we filed our I-130 back in May. I NEVER expected to get approved so quickly, but our approval notice was sent out today!!

I hope that your approvals are met with the same speed!

Barbara

To be honest , as much as this is wonderful news for you, it is still going to cause a lot of frustration to the people who have been waiting since August of last year and even those from January this year which is still alot of people. Congrats on your approval but try to think of the other peoples feelings on here, some things are just better unsaid. Congrats again though, did you do anything special, do you have a military spouse?

I have thought of your feelings and my post was quite empathetic. You all want updates, and I provided you with mine. My sole reason to post here was to give you a heads-up that things are moving in the right direction. I wish you all the best and, as I said in my previous post, a most speedy approval of your own.

As for your question -- my spouse is not military, and I am the petitioner. We did, however, use an attorney. I do not know if that makes a difference. Again, I'm only supplying you with information in the hopes that you get a better sense of things. This totally exceeded my expectations.

No worries about my feelings , im out of USCIS but VSC is not making any progress at all and it becomes awful for those people that have to wait and wait when they filed from what seems to them as 10 years ago to see someone who gets done in 2 months. There is always those who get through with no wait time while other suffer terrible emotional distress, I just always feel bad when those people who have been waiting 6-11 months or more to open up this site looking to see their fellow VJ members in their timeframe get an approval to get some hope for theirs but only see the same confusing thing of how these random petitions get done in a very very small amount of time. I am happy that you got done without your life being controlled by the process but again I just feel bad for the others who can only wonder why VSC does not do the FIFO policy. Didnt mean to make you think I was frustrated at you, I just tend to think too much about others feelings and thoughts.

You're a very nice, genuine person. I thought about not posting because I felt as if God smiled on me today and perhaps not on many others whose plights are seemingly without end in sight. It's gut-wrenching to read of so many who have been separated for so long. However, I ultimately decided that it might give the VSC filers a ray of hope that their applications will soon be looked at. And I wish with all my heart that the VSC would review these older cases that seem stuck in a labyrinth!! Maybe, just maybe, things are picking up!

Congratulations, Attorneys' do not make a petiton processed faster, you just hit the lottery for the day. Again, congratulations and best wishes. I hope when Paris Heart and I re-file in a few weeks, we hit the daily jack pot.

Nah , attorney makes no difference, my petition was not touched for more than 6& 1/2 months, I got an expedite granted and it was approved in 2 working days after that expedite. No attorney at all, there was nothing difficult about my case because it was done in a few hours of that 2nd day. VSC I think is playing with their numbers, approve some really fast to show a better average i think. I still pray for everyone going through it. Congrats again.

You said that eloquently! You're so right. It seems that no one seated in positions of power has the ability (or desire?) to look into the mess from last year.

I think you're right though, VSC probably has a quota to fill, and if your application looks tidy (or perhaps they've dealt with the law firm before with good results), they pick it and say, "Hey, look at how quick we are." It's a shame for the others who were in the queue already!!! Just where are their petitions?

Barbara:

You were completely right to post your story here. We all have disappointments through this process, and even I had many many disappointments.

I waited from October to April for my I-129F approval, while others were being approved in 2 weeks. It was very frustrating, but in the big picture, I'm almost done now (my Naturalization interview is August 21st) and it really doesn't matter any more how long the process took. Life just goes on and sometimes you win some and sometimes you don't.

Best wishes for a speedy rest of the process to you and everyone who is awaiting approvals.

Congrats - you are so lucky...

I am one of those January VSC filers and yes I am feeling a bit wistful - I have been in Nepal for the last 6 weeks with my husband and really thought I would see NOA-2 by now only to find out that according to my timeline and recent posts I most likely will have to wait until October at the earliest for approval and that is of course not including the wait time with NVC... In the meantime there is one Nepal January VSC K-1 filer whose fiance had his interview 4 months after she filed the I-129 - she filed after me in fact - they are now together forever while I felt like I had my heart ripped out at the KTM airport 4 days ago when I sad goodbye to my husband....

I feel like there is no rhyme or reason to anything they are doing, and when I think that H-1B folks(who are not even technically immigrants) can bring their whole family here while I, a U.S. citizen who has paid taxes for over 20 years, cannot be with my husband, it fills me with outrage...

Pattu Rani (F) Glad you're back, though it was pain... I felt the same when I came back on June 1st, but, at least I was sure she could join me in another 1.5 months time from my departure date.

I told myself(and Govi) that this is the last goodbye(or as I prefer 'see you later') - next time he will be on that plane with me or at least he will have received his visa at that point and will have his air ticket in hand and will be joining me in weeks, not months - I can't take any more airport goodbyes. This time was the hardest... Why do the airlines make you check in 4 hours before departure at a small airport like KTM??? I ended up sitting with nothing to do for over 2 hours which I could have spent with Govi.... I had resolved not to cry after I went into the terminal and saw Govi for what I thought was the last time but Govi hung around and waved goodbye through the window after I checked in... The guards even let him kiss me one more time(imagine that at a US airport)... Even Govi (Mr. 'control') was crying a little..

Imagine if the IRS were run like USCIS....
