Or maybe people who didn't live through Katrina and have absolutely no clue what life was like in the Gulf Coast before, during, or after the storm shouldn't be allowed to pass judgment and call it a race thing.

Wait...I'm adopting Amber's attitude....I don't care...I don't care...my shoes are pretty.

could those in the midwest demand the same from those who were not in the midwest before, during, or after?

No. We don't count. We're just "fly-over" states and produce nothing for the country as a whole.*

*Except corn, soybeans, wheat, many other vegetables, Toyota vehicles, Hondas, Subarus, car parts, computers, drugs (Eli Lilly & Pfizer), etc etc...

Bunch of worthless f*cking leeches we are.

Could be a lot worse though...NYC could be dumping all its trash in one of our states.

i guess i'll go hang my head in shame now, and watch the planes fly overhead in flyover country. :innocent:

Good idea, Charles. Another day of the midwest passtime - plane-watching!

That reminds me...one good thing about the midwest is that there's no smog because there aren't any cars. We still travel by horse and buggy. Makes for great plane-watching

And those of us who live in the Midwest have OBVIOUSLY never lived in other states!

I'm obviously delusional when I say that I've lived in Indiana, California, Ohio, Colorado, and Wyoming....

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Those who live on the coasts have also lived in the midwest.

I notice there is no outrage about the lack of outrage for the fires that are currently raging (the entire Big Sur is evacuated, wine country near Santa Barbara is badly burned) but hey, obviously being selective about outrage isn't limited to any one group or geographical location.

just to clarify things - how do we determine if someone "lived" in a state? i've been to lots of states, was not a resident, but was there for anywhere from several weeks to a year or more.

"live in" to me is a year or more.

although, I have never "lived" in Indiana but know it fairly well having spent practically every Easter, Christmas and several weeks of summer vacations there with it being the home of my grandmother and for a time, my father.

I could give a $hit. Just pointing out the hypocrisy.

But you were aware that there are currently fires and 10,000 people have evacuated their homes? Thanks for proving my point.

I absolutely NEVER said anything of the kind. I was referring to some incredibly rude comments in this thread made about the Gulf Coast.

I'm not sure how my comment could have spiked your comment, Platy's comment, etc. When did I say that the Midwest and what is being endured there wasn't important?

kinda like the huge flood and more than 10k that evacuated their homes in the midwest aka the flyover states?

you have no point ;)

I started the 'flyover' bit on this thread. I was referring to my belief that flyovers take more in federal spending than they give out. Well, I did a little googling and it turns out some midwestern states are guilty of being leeches, while others are not. All the states on our west coast are donor states, imagine that! No surprise there.

And New Jersey is the biggest donor state... so all you haters can kiss my ### ;)

See http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138473 for details.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

yes, two areas of the country affected in similar ways, both generating little outrage. The Californians aren't whining about the lack of outrage, celebrity endorsements, etc. But then, we don't have mouthpieces in the form of right wing radio on our side. In fact, they hate us and laughed at the fires last year. Sooooo funny when people lose their homes if you disagree with their politics (even though the OC got hit pretty badly and they are Republicans. Oh well, probably RINOs anyway)

why is there no ourtage? probably because both situations are being handled as best as possible and deaths so far have been minimum. It's nothing more special than that.
