I-90 Info thread for Greencard errors

Hi all,

It's good to see some people also have errors on their cards and that I am not the only cursed one here!! I feel your frustration with USCIS!!

How long is the current process for issuing new cards? A few months ago it seemed to take 3 months.

I have not sent my card back yet even though I have had it since July and want to fly overseas early Jan 2008. I do have a temp stamp in my passport as I entered as a perm resident. However, I would feel more comfortable having the actually card back by then.

thanks.

Hi :)

Sorry to see another person with an error on their card (how did they mess yours up, then?), hope it doesn't take too long to get it fixed! Good that you've got the stamp on your passport already - that's a start... how long is it valid for? At least you should be able to get a new one if there's any danger of the stamp expiring before you get your corrected card, hopefully... is the problem that you got a 2 year card instead of a 10 year one? (With mine, they spelled my middle name wrong... sigh).

As for how long it takes... well, it looks (from the experiences of people on this thread) like it can vary pretty wildly - a handful of people have had their new cards in a relatively short time, and others seem to have had to wait 3, 4, 5... months. I suppose it also depends (like most things with USCIS) on where you send the I-90! I've been told that I won't get an NOA (and, nearly 2 months after filing the I-90, I haven't, so that seems to be true, even though other people did seem to be getting NOAs a while ago) and as there's no cheques to cash and no receipt number, it seems to be just a case of waiting and hoping for the best!

That said... I had touches on my I-485 yesterday and today, whatever that means. I know they (CSC) had to request my "A" file from their storage facility, so I'm guessing the touches either mean someone's found it at the storage facility, or that it's arrived back on someone's desk at the CSC. Either way, touches are at least something, they're encouraging in themselves!

Anyway, I will stop rambling (and post if I have any more news... I've been a bit 'absent' from here recently) and while I'm at it, update the list here. Sorry it's so wobbly (I wish I knew how to make it stay straight!)... and Hollywood79, fingers crossed that you don't have to wait too long when you do send the I-90! :)

I was just about to post on here last night, to see if any of my fellow I-90ers had any updates or news, and to say that my I-485 had been getting a lot of touching action of late (twice the week before last, twice last week, and on Monday and Tuesday this week - all without any status change), when I got an email from the lovely CRIS saying 'card production ordered'. Two emails saying 'card production ordered', in fact. Yay! Although I won't get too excited until the card has a) safely arrived and b ) been checked to make sure they haven't messed it up this time. No idea if I should expect the same 'welcome notice'/'approval notice' emails that you get when the I-485 is approved, we shall see...

For anyone who's interested - I never did get any kind of NOA (and was told that I wouldn't get one, and that I wouldn't get any new receipt number) - I just saw a few touches on my original I-485, and then got the 'card production ordered' email, referring to the receipt number for my I-485 as if they'd only just approved it.

I'll report back when the card actually shows up (am now worried it'll get lost in the mail or something - we have had LOADS of mail not turning up lately), and hopefully I'll be able to say it's actually all correct this time!

Any news, anyone else? :)

Congratulations and fingers crossed there are no more errors :)

I was wondering how they let you know about updates and the like since there is no receipt when you file an I-90 "d" (uscis error) and now I know. I feel suitably reassured that there is at least *some* way to check it.

Congratulations again, and thanks for the update.

Thanks, Annie (and thanks Maria, too! :) )

I saw that they'd managed to mess your card up as well - after all that time stuck in namecheck, ugh!! At least it seems like CSC is capable of processing I-90s relatively quickly, so hopefully you won't have too much of a wait for your shiny new 10-year card. My fingers will be crossed for you!

No sign of the actual card yet, but on Friday night I got this email/I-485 case status change:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: MSCXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card Mailed

On October 19, 2007, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

*Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov under Case Status and Processing Dates.

*** Please do not respond to this e-mail message.

Sincerely,

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

.... so with any luck it should get here in the next few days. The last one arrived really quickly, 'cos they're mailed from somewhere in Kentucky (I think), so... hopefully I should be able to report back any day now that I've got it and that everything's as it should be!

hi, everyone.

I just got my 2 year GC and they've slightly misspeled my first name: Ana instead of Anna... my birth certificate has my name with just one n, so that's probably where they got it from...

I was just wondering in the case of people who've had misspells, how bad were they?

I'm just considering if it's worth going through the whole replacement process with such a slight misspell.

I will call USCIS before I travel to make sure it's ok, but just wondering what you guys think...

Thanx

Update... I got home this evening to find my new, improved, correctly-spelled green card sitting in our mailbox. Yay! :) Hope anyone else who's still waiting isn't waiting much longer!

Mine was just a slight misspelling, too - on my middle name rather than my first name, though. I went to an Infopass and was told that it would be better to get it corrected rather than run into problems later on. I was loath to send my lovely new green card back to USCIS, but after being told that it would be for the best, decided that's what I'd better do... so I can only tell you what I was told! If you do file an I-90, make sure you get an I-551 stamp in your passport first, as it will prove that you're a permanent resident for employment/travel purposes - hopefully you'll be able to get the stamp as easily as I did. Sorry to hear of yet another person with a messed-up green card... hope it doesn't take you too long to sort out! :)

  • 1 month later...

have any of you heard about a wrong A#?

My two K2 were approved on July 2007, and both have wrong A#'s. I schredule an info pass and the officer made me to fillout an I-90 and kept the two greencards. Now I haven't received a letter, not even a touch on their I-485. I called the mis-info # and was told that it takes about 6 months. Right now they have a A# but those are showing pending on their system. I received a phone called from the officer that I spoke with on October and she said that CSC will recreated the cases. Right now I just have to waint, since suppostly you don't get a NOA for I-90's.

The officer aslo told me that she can't give a stamp since the real A# were showing pending. I don't want to go back again to that office cause it's few hours away from home and it means another day off from work.

Can somebody give an idea of what I need to do?

I wanted to give an update on our I-90 situation. Hachemi received his green card in June with his name misspelled. We filled out the I-90 and sent the green card back immediately. I did get confirmation that it was received by USCIS. I called in October to see why he has not received the corrected card. They told me they could not do anything until after 6 months had gone by. We made an info pass appointment for today. We were in and out of the immigration office in 5 minutes. No one was waiting to be seen when we arrived. She put another I-551 stamp in his passport that expires in 1 year, and put in an inquiry on the corrected green card.

Hello everyone I thought I would add to your I-90 thread as my GC came back with the wrong name on, I sent it back to the California service center 1/17/08 so lets see how long it takes!!

I was a member on here 4 years ago totally forget the log in name I used so I started afresh today been down the marriage based visa road, so I know the ropes and the above is incorrect due to my approval of my I-751 back in Nov 07.

I was just wondering if anyone receiving a green card w/ the wrong gender had noticed anything unusual on the USCIS website when checking their case online...for example, when I check my husband's AOS online, it says "welcome *Mrs.* Karaman" when I sign into the online account. I am hoping this is just a fluke and doesn't indicated that they are going to put the wrong gender on his green card....

ROC Journey:

01/19/2010 - Mailed ROC paperwork to Vermont Service Center

01/21/2010 - ROC package arrived at VSC

01/26/2010 - Check cashed

01/28/2010 - Received NOA, GC extended for 1 year

02/25/2010 - Biometrics taken

04/23/2010 - Conditions lifted! :)

05/01/2010 - Ten-year GC received...on hubby's birthday! Yay!

My wife Recieved a 2 yr card instead of 10 yr card and we are going to send it back because the marriage was over 2 yr when she was granted permnant residence. Took a infopass and they also said return it. But my only question on Part 2 of the I-90 it asks your status? would my wife be permnant (non commuter) or condtional permant resident. She should of got a 10 yr card ! On her weclome letter its says conditional permnant resident but that is wrong. Should we check permnant resident(non-commuter) any sugguestions
