I-90 Info thread for Greencard errors

I just phoned the mis-information line. The officer there told me rather abruptly that they don't issue NOAs for the I-90 and that they will send correspondence to me (note, not a new card, but correspondence) between 60 and 90 days. I'm at day 49 right now.

sarcasm So, I guess that all the people on this list that have an NOA must be wrong, huh? /sarcasm.

(No, not a happy person right now...I'm pretty dang sure that officer was talking out of her bottom because what she said went contrary to everything I've seen on here.)

Apparently whoever has been looking at my files has the same info sheet about no NOA for I-90 since I never got one either. Only funny how they gave me stink at the Infopass abotu how they cuoldn't give me a stamp without the NOA for the I-90!

Looks like you and I have our own club, the non-NOA club! I doubt anyone else will want to join. :(

She also told me that I'd have to have an emergency reason for getting a stamp (at the discretion of the officer at the D.O.). Maybe I'm just peevish today, but on principle, why should I have to have an emergency reason to get a stamp that shows my status if they can't get their paperwork in order in any sort of a timely manner? Isn't having been through the interview and being granted approval enough to get me a stamp if they can't provide me a card?

Of course, I'm trying to make sense of this and we all know that's a little silly...

Oh well, I've stopped crying today and am back to mad. ;)

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

You know, I always wonder the same thing. I guess we're just thinking on too logical terms!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this also but if I may suggest - and if you have the time, DO make an Infopass appointment to speak with an officer. Bring your Welcome to America Letter and/or the letter your greencard came with and ask for an I-551 stamp. If they ask why, tell them you were approved a greencard but when you got it, there was an error and that you filed an I-90 as you should but you need an I-551 stamp to prove your status whether it's in regards to work or travel. If they ask you for the NOA on the I-90 tell them you never received it and that when you called, the person you talked to from whatever service center told you that they do not issue I-90 NOAs. Your district office should have proof of your status with just your AOS receipt # which should say you were approved. That is more than enough proof of your status to them and requesting a stamp so YOU yourself have physical proof of that status until you get your corrected card should not even be an issue.

I'd also call the Service Center you sent your greencard and I-90 to and ask again about the NOA. If they say "again" that they do not issue NOAs for I-90 - ask them for their name. Give that person's name to your District Office (if they ask for the NOA) and see what happens.

Whatever happens, good luck. (F)

If they say "again" that they do not issue NOAs for I-90 - ask them for their name.

Name, or better yet don't these people usually have employee numbers or something? May be easier to track them through that.

Ok, we're now part of the I-90 saga. We made an infopass appointment, and if we don't ask to change the card now, his middle name won't be added on any subsequent cards. And, to avoid any future problems (since his SSC and all other forms of identification have his middle name), husband decided that he's willing to wait to get a GC with his middle name on it.

So, it was sent in on 6/08. Silly infopass lady insisted that we needed to send it in to Nebraska, when the card was issued in Missouri. When we asked her why, she wouldn't answer  Totally not helpful. In addition to that, she restamped husband's passport with a new stamp. The one he got at the interview was good until next May, and this one is only good until October. Even more freakin confusion.

Well, instead of booking a day off work and traveling 3 hours to my district office, I decided that it was time to get the local Senators and Congressman for my area involved.

On Monday I faxed 3 offices with my timeline and issues:

- that I had no way of knowing if my I-90 had been received or if it was lost,

- that I had been given conflicting information on my eligibility to get an I-551 stamp should I decide to attempt an Infopass appointment.

On Thursday I received a letter from one office stating that they were looking into it for me. And this afternoon I got a call at work that they had answers for me!!!

My I-90 did make it to the MSC and is now in a queue waiting to be fixed and returned. They estimated about a month. My original mailing date was April 21.

So I'm happy and will await the card instead of getting the stamp. And for others waiting, I hope that information above on the timing helps a little. :)

Just wondering if anyone has any new info on their case. My _485 was touched 10 days ago and now my I-90's been touched 2 times in the last 2 days, so I'm starting to get my hopes up again that they're actually getting a move on with these greencard errors. :P
