I think I have read it in several places that once your i-130 gets approved, you have only 4 month’s time and your interview at the consulate should be scheduled by that time.

Now here is our situation, i-130 got approved on 10th of June; we have paid our AOS and IV bill and also got the coversheet. Anyways, basically we have a lawyer involved and I have just received my PCC yesterday, so I will need to post that to my husband and since I live in remote islands in India, it will take around 10 days time even with DHL shipping. Basically with the calculations involved and IF things go all right, I think we should get an October date for interview and that’s kind of squeezing into the 4 months mark, will that be a problem or you can always extend your date?

Incorrect,

Only K-1 approval notice, has the 4 month expiration date, and the consulates have the authority to extend the expiration.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

There is not time limit for the I 130, that is for K1 and I think K3 have an expire date too, but for the I 130 there is no need to worry, people going through Canada have to wait 3 months almost after they leave nvc necause things are so backed up. Also a VJ buddy from Brazil took 6 months to start their NVC process after their I 130 was approved.

That eases up the tention a whole lot :)

That's true silent.

If you remember, in the olden days NVC process itself used to take 4 months and another 1 to 2 months for the consulate interview. If that was the case, every I-130 applicant's visa would have been denied... How's my answer ?
