I downloaded the forms and things I need prior to my husband's interview when that may ever happen and on the list is an "original birth certificate" is it requesting mine or his (beneficiary)????

Thanks in advance.

It is his you need. Most embassys do not require it be translated if it is in english or the language of the country where the embassy is that you are going through. But, you should check the embassy website, because i have heard that there are a few embassies that require a translation, but most do not.

Also you need the police certificates of everywhere he lived for a year or more since age 16.

And a certified marriage certificate.

That is a very good question!! Because they give time requirements for how long you live in an area. It is usually if you live there for more than 1 year, then you need a police certificate for that country. But, since he just moved there, I don't know.

Maybe there is someone here that has run into that situation.

Sorry!!!

If it isnt too much trouble to get it and you have it on his DS-230 then I would suggest getting it just to be on the safe side , you can also email the consulate to ask them. It does take the consualtes some time to get back with you but sooner or later they will.

Rajaa,

We brought both birth certificates to the interview (hubby & mine as the US petitioner). It is better to be safe than sorry.
