Never even thought this was possible on Craigslist. Interesting.

Oh yes. It is hilarious to go through the personal ads on Craigslist when you are incredibly bored, particularly the casual encounter section. Most of them are so dreadfully awful and almost none are worksafe, just as a warning. I am having trouble picturing this article because I know what Craigslist is like there where they went. Yeah...

This is not an indictment of personal ads, rather the ones on Craigslist are...well, I'll let them speak for themselves.

I have to wonder really at how much actual joy is gained from casual sex. I mean, I know people make statements that suggest that there is much gratification to be derived from 'no strings' sex but I have to wonder if being so casual it brings the gratification that is being sought, particularly for women. I may be unusual but for me enjoying sex is not simply a physical response to mechanical stimuli (which is never a simple matter anyway) but more a combined emotional/physical response which just isn't possible with casual encounters.

I've had more than my fair share of casual sex with probably way too many people and it is very joyful, gratifying, and stress relieving. Casual sex is great because you can do whatever you want since you don't ever have to see that person again. I'm not saying I wouldn't normally do whatever I want during sex but if you want someone to smack your azz and call you a dirty ####### or something because it's a fantasy of yours then let some random stranger do it and don't feel ashamed of it. I am not capable of sex without emotion - well not with a partner anyway. I also don't quite understand the notion of being too embarressed to talk about playing out one's sexual fantasies with someone you are in love with. 'Doing it with a stranger' in order not to worry about what someone thinks of you? I don't get how that works. I would have thought that to be a fulfilling experience it would be one that one would look back on with joy not 'oh my god, if people knew that that's what turns me on!'

Anyway, casual sex is not my thing, that much is quite clear. I don't have anything against it on 'moral' grounds but to I do think that perhaps there is an element of self acceptance/worth that plays a part in whether or not you want to have multiple partnerships as well as perhaps a sense of how to value life itself?

Still, I am probably missing something, some essential element that makes the idea of having sex with lots of different people without forming any type of attachment to them something worthy and fulfilling rather than somewhat pointless.

Obviously, buyer or seller beware. I use Craigslist a lot to sell furniture and to buy cars, but you have to be very careful. I refuse to meet any people off there alone in a non-public setting and it is all cash only. There are just way too many bad apples.
