Embassy Email Regarding DOS Info

After DOS told me the checks were complete, I contacted the embassy. I received this email:

Thank you for your inquiry. Administrative clearances are currently experiencing delays of up to several months. Given recent turn-around times, it is not likely that administrative processing on your case will be complete in time for your planned travel date of early August 2008. While we cannot guarantee processing by a specific date, given recent processing times, your case might be ready for issuance as soon as four months after your interview date.

Are they just completely out of touch with DOS? Will it really take this long?

Everyone is out of touch with everyone else

Unfortunately there is no way to tell when they will issue the visa. It is possible that the checks at DOS are complete but sometimes there are consulate level checks that are done as well.

Its just a neverending waiting game.

Yes, especially sinc eyour consulate country is Iraq, it is one of the highly scrutinized nations and that is another reason aside from the fact that no one is in touch with one another, that your checks may not be done as quickly as August 2008. My husband has been on security checks for 10 months and still does not have his visa. It typically takes applicants from the T-countires somewhere between 6-12 months. From our experience, we have see that you are lucky to get out of it before 5 months, 6-8 months is typical and 8-12 months you are just unlucky. At least you get the visa though and no matter how hard it is, we have to carry on. Some of us here have had their security checks done multiple times and in y own case, theyhad been done initially 4 months into AP but got expired by the time the consulate contacted my husband so now we are waiting for another decision.

If your case has been in AP for 6 months, make an inquiry of the consulate to the embassy. Before that, no one care or shows sympathy because you got people waiting 8-12 months waiting for their cases to get cleared.

Pray to God and ask for help. Your prayers will be answered. I surely hope we are all reunited with our loved ones soon.

God bless,

Tammy

AP: Over 1 year.

Visa: Nov 2

US Entry: Nov 13, Alhamdulillah.

The Consulate is GIVING THEMSELVES 4 additional months under the blanket excuse "administrative processing."

It is possible the head officer is reviewing the case now. Deciding to do more checks, ask for more information from you, or making sure all paperwork is complete.

Please don't take it to heart, the 4 months. It could be less....

Ditto to Nutty, the consulate always tries to buy themselves time. They will blame AP as long as they can, sometimes your case doesn't even get checked before they send an email like this . . . they like generic "sit back down and wait" emails. Don't worry, but DO keep your reps advised of the situation.

It seems like that is a standardized response from the consulate. I contacted DOS 3 weeks ago and again the other day, both times it was explained to me that name checks were completed and cleared and now just waiting on the consulate to issue the visa. I emailed the consulate again to find out what is going on since the past three weeks DOS has said that his name checks are cleared. We will see if they still report administrative processing as they have the other emails I have sent for a status update. I would continue to send emails and keep your rep up-to date on the status.[/size]

Good Luck!!!
