Woo hoo! Today I got an letter from USCIS for Interview schedule.

It was dated 08/04/2008 from I-797C Notice and postmarked as 08/04/2008.

So I have one and half month for study and collecting additional documents. ^^

Actually I expected this sometime early this week.

According to my co-worker who went through this N400 early this year, it took 5 months for whole thing.

I hope I bring good luck to your guys, who are waiting for IL arriving.

I'm really disappointed as I recieved NOA 1 letter today and it says time to interview is 540 days !

Anybody know if it could be really that long......I am in NY and mailed to Vermont.

I see other people get letters saying 180 days here on the boards !

Don't be disappointed so early.

Right now USCIS is trying to shorten N400 processing time, so they are hiring new people and put more resource for N400 processing.

Even they allow overtime and weekend interview to facilitate N400 processing time to reduce overall N400 processing within 12 months.

You know NYC is always busy and you should be used with standing in long wait line. ^^

I think more concern should be put on your FBI namecheck process.

They are talking about less than 10% of people caught in FBI namecheck process for additional investigation.

But if you are one of unfortunate 10%, it's going to be 100% delay for you.

Some people are waiting for a couple of years - as far as I heard, longest case was 4 years - to pass FBI namecheck process.

So just assume that 540 days number means worst case, and now you can expect only better for yourself. ^^

My wife got a letter from USCIS about her N-400 so I rushed home at lunch to check it out. Turns out to be a list of docs she needs to bring to her interview, probably cause it's marriage based. Why they couldn't include that with the interview appointment notification is beyond me.

It's basically my birth certificate, our marriage certificate, our son's BC. Even if the interview was next month we could get all that ordered from the various state/county governments in time.

I also got the same letter from Lee's Summit, MO, on 08/08/08. I would have fainted if the Interview Letter was there too because my priority date was 07/11/08. It would have been too good to be true. Well, I guess my wait is afoot:)
