Ok, this is my first ever post here so if I ramble a little please be patient - I'm a newbie!

My fiancee and I have applied for a K-1 fiance visa. Currently I am living in england and awaiting my interview at the US Embassy in London on June 14th. The problem is that although I have had a steady, fairly well paid job for the past 3 years I was recently fired. I won't bore you with all the fine details but basically what happened was this.....

Although getting on well with the majority of my co-workers I have never had a great relationship with my boss. A few weeks back it became clear that my move to the US had moved into the catagory of "sooner" rather than "later". At this point the reltionship between the boss and myself became worse - his thinking seemed to be that of "if you don't want to be here I don't want you here". This went on for a few weeks, gradually becoming worse. Last week I eventually lost my patience and in the middle of the work place we had a serious arguement. A lot was said(...and shouted) which probably wasn't needed but in the heat of the moment it came out anyway. Since then I have been suspended and was informed earlier today that my contract would be terminated citing "Gross Misconduct" on my part.

My worry is not about the job or anything but more to do with my Visa application. Will the Embassy be contacting my former employies for anything and if so could the fact that I was fired in such a way affect the outcome of my application?

As I said, this is my first time posting here and if this is a dumb question then excuse me, but I have been waiting so long and now that it's all almost over I am worried(scared?) that somthing - ANYTHING - will go wrong.

I hope that you can put my mind at rest. thankyou.

Do not worry about your current employment situation, I was unemployed too when I went thru the interview stage. It is your fiance that must prove their earnings and not yourself.

Remember to emigrate to the US you cant have a job in England anyway. There is no need to worry and the process from here is a simple one. All they will be wanting to check now is that you can prove your relationship is genuine and you will not be a public charge when you get there.

Good Luck and enjoy.

It wouldnt matter if you were working in England you CAN have a job while doing your paperwork besides your income has no effect whatsoever on your application its your US spouse and income they are looking at.

Cheers guys...feeling better now. I always suspected I was over reacting but it's nice to be told for sure

I doubt they'll ask you about the specifics of your job when you go to interview. Certainly the guy who interviewed me didn't - he just asked what I planned to do in the USA. I said I was an IT guy, so that's where I'd be looking, and that was that.

 Yup they arent really interested in you infact they didn't ask me anything about my employment or lack there of. I've been my son's carer for the last four years. So now worries there .London is a very easy Embassy to go through :)
