I-134 - current income OK but previous incomes below 125% of poverty line

My interview for the K1 visa is in 2 weeks. We have gathered all the paperwork we need several weeks ago and I just realized this morning that on his tax transcripts for the past 3 years, on two of them the income is less than 125% of poverty line (but more than poverty line).

His current income is above 125%.

I have read that what matters is that the current income is above 125%, which is the case here, but I am worried about these two years with lower income. Is it a big problem or am I worrying for nothing?

Should we try to get a co-sponsor? it is going to be hard to do so in 2 weeks, but if you people believe that without a co-sponsor we'll be denied, then we'll definitely do our best to find one.

I also read that someone wrote a letter explaining why the previous incomes were lower (because they went to the foreign fiance country for a while). Should we do that?

We were in a similar situation. My current income is above the poverty level, but my previous years were not. I included a letter explaining why my income was below the poverty levels (I was in grad school).

That was enough for us :)

I believe that for the K-type Visa the requirement is at the 100% of the poverty line not 125%. Hope this helps.

Depends on the consulate.

Yes I heard it depends on the consulate. We may write a letter as you did, ZeeNusah. The reason his income was low last year is that he came to France to be with me.

So you don't think we need a co-sponsor?

How long has he been at his current job?

How long has he been at his current job?

Since April of this year.

He came to France in October 2007/November 2007, then when he went back to the USA at the end of November, he went back to his old company, where he stayed until April 2008, which is when he found his current job (which pays a lot better)

I could see the CO asking for a cosponsor because he has not been at his job for a long time.

I would line up a cosponsor in case the CO asks for it.
