There was some loophole in english law a few years ago that meant you could sell them legally. Sadly, that loophole is now closed.

Did they change that part of the law too? They used to sell them openly in Camden Market and (of all places) Tottenham Court Road.

I thought for "personal use" you are still allowed to pick them in the wild and eat them - but any sort of preparation (drying them for tea, for example) was illegal.

They closed the one for selling - there was a boom of mushroom selling the year I left (2005), all perfectly legal. The ones they sold were the far more potent varieties not native to Britain.

I believe you can still pick them for personal use, I imagine that would be impossible to police anyway.

You wouldn't need to police it - as the picking of wild mushrooms is generally pretty dodgy anyway - unless you know exactly what you're looking for. You take your life in your hands all the same...

If they were a hazard to neighbors, then I could see requiring owners to grow them so they are in closed up area, but designating a plant as an illegal drug and putting someone behind bars is not only ridiculous, it's a perversion of the freedoms that this country was built on.

I would think that a gun advocate as yourself would see the similar logic on this one.

i don't know about you, but if someone was intentionally cultivating these, i'd be worried.

You're advocating outlawing something because of its potential harm to others, correct?
