Hey guys ,

I received my greencard with an error ( date of birth is 16th but they put 06) . I called uscis straight away to inform them. They told me to do form I90 and return the card with it, which I did.

On my DS230 I had consented for uscis to apply for a ssn on my behalf. After arriving here, having received the green card and no ssn I went to my local office to see what was going on. I was surprised to learn that I was not even in the system.Anyways I took the relevant documents along so I applied for a ssn and was told that i will get it in two weeks. I felt great as I am desperate to take my driving course and do my enclex exam.

Yesterday I received a call from social security, advising me that uscis has contacted them and ask them to input my info in the system once more because they (ss) have entered the wrong dob. I was shocked, as I had sent back the green card and I90 form over three weeks ago. Why have they not updated their system and fixed the error! My birth certificate was submitted with the I90.The lady from ss was disgusted after I explained to her what had happened. I thanked her for contacting me and advised her that I was going to call uscis pronto.

Contacted uscis and explained what was happening. I realize that the lady was not sure what to tell me so I asked her to transfer me to an immigration officer, which she did. This lady came on the phone with a nasty attitude, however I kept my cool. I explained to her that I have sent back the faulty green card three weeks ago. I informed her of the call I received from ss, I also told her that I was informed that within two weeks I would receive my ssn but now it is on hold. She interrupted me and started to tell me that ss and uscis are two different departments so ss could not have told me that I would receive my green card in two weeks. I told her that maybe she did not hear me properly so I am going to tell her again . after I was trying to tell her that it was the ssn I was advised about, she was talking over me and kept interrupting, then she threw the phone down so hard , you would have to hear it to believe it.

I called back to find out who she was so I can report her, but no one had a record of who I was transferred to. I am so upset to be treated with so little respect after spending our money to file papers , above all , it is their mistake that has created all this problem. Can anyone advise me on what can be done please.

Thanks in advance guys!

It's probably quite normal for this people to cover each other's butt by not disclosing who's the person who screwed up. It seems they work at a production line condition without much quality control, the variety and scope of mistakes they make are just so disgusting.

My husband tried to find out the full name of the person who "approved" our expedite request and then sent us an approval notice with wrong receipt numbers. The notice has an initial and a last name, I am sure they know who is the culprit, but no one will tell !

I agree with you Leah. Some of them (uscis) told me that I will have to wait for 180 days before I get the correct green card, some told me 6 months, while some told me one month. I have never seen anything like this in my life!
