Aloha again,

Sorry to bombard everyone with questions. I am trying to get everything in order, so I can send out the packets ASAP.

I am wondering about the police certificate.

Does anyone know what my wife would have to ask for? She will be going to the police office in her town in Japan.

She called the Embassy here in Hawaii, and they told her it would take up to 2 months to get what she needed- If she ordered it from here, or did it in person in Japan.

I have a hard time believing this, as I haven't seen anywhere mention it would take that long. I would imagine if it really took that long, people would have posted here warning others to get a very early head start on that.

Any and all info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

The police clearance is country specific. If your wife has been told it will take 3 months, my bet is: it will. [Edit: it takes 3 weeks]

It used to take that long to get the Police certificate in my country before they changed the system, now we are able to get the PC on the same day!

I was living in Japan (Tokyo) so I have to get police certificate from Japan too.

Soon after my fiance filed our K1 petition in May, I called Japanese embassy in Indonesia (Jakarta) and they told me

it would take 2-3 months. I was worried about this, but then I happened to have chance to visit Tokyo few weeks ago

and took the opportunity to go get the certificate. The whole process was relatively easy. I only needed Certificate of

Thanks for the responses. :)

We called the Japanese Embassy here in Honolulu, and they told her it would take 2-3 months. I really dont have anything nice to say about the J Embassy here. I have been there about 3 times, and they have never been polite, or helpful in any way. Shame.

I checked the American Embassy site, and they wrote it took about 2 weeks if going in person. That example was for Tokyo though. Looking at the local prefecture of my wife (Kanagawa), it looks like she can get it all done within a week.

My only problem is she is here visiting for a few months, so our NVC flow will be lagged. We unfortunately couldnt have prepared for it beforehand, because we were just approved last week, while she was here. :)

Thanks again everyone for your help.
