According to a study of fifteen thousand couples done at the University of Minnesota, there are seven different kinds of marriages.

Read the following marriage type out loud to your spouse. Discuss which category your marriage likely fits. Also talk about where you like it to be.

1. Devitalized - These couples described themselves as very unhappy with all aspects of their relationships. This group has high likehood of divorce and comprises 40 percent of all marriages.

2. Financially Focused - In these marriages the couple's career comes before the relationship. Money, not love, is what holds the marriage together. This group accounts 14 percent of all marriages.

3. Conflicted - These couples are dissatisfied with many but not all, facets of their marriage. Conflicts are often left unresolved and pleasure is sought outside the relationship. This group also accounts 14 percent of all marriages.

4. Traditional - These marriages are better off, with the couple reporting satisfaction in a number of areas. However, communication problems and sex related difficulties are frequent complaints. 10 percent of marriages fit in this category.

5. Balanced - These couples say they're moderately satisfied with their marriages. They tend to be strong in problem solving and communication but money is often recurring problem. 8 percent of couples belong to this category.

6. Harmonious - Highly satisfied couples make up this category. They are happy with each other but often complain about the children. If there are any problems or difficulties it's normally with the children. This group accounts for 8 percent of marriages.

7. Vitalized - The couples in this category are very satisfied with their spouses and their marriages. In addition, they have strong internal resources and are good at resolving conflicts. 6 percent of marriages fall into this category.

We will be married 6 years in December. Yay!!! I have to say that right now we are "vitalized". But until I we had our daughter we were very "financially focused". And never you never know, when I go back to work, we may be again. Bottom line is we are happy. No matter what a book says or how it classifies us.

I think it depends on the day of the week sometimes. Our focus changes with the our needs and the speed bumps we face.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
