Can a Senator help with getting a interview

Hello, how is everyone?

I called NVC once again today to see if my husband was scheduled for an interview and of course he was not. I know there's alot of vjer's waiting alot longer than us. But i was wondering if I contact my Senator to see if he can help. Im just trying to see if there's anything I can do to expedite this matter a litttle bit faster. I am so frustrated at this point and just want my hubby home.

I'm thinking there's not much I can do but wait. I know I have to wait and be paitent and I am. Just looking into what i can do on this matter.

Any help I can get. I thank you all.

2-7-06 - called NVC, case completed on 1-26-06, thank you lord, NVC stated waiting on confirmation from lagos regarding interview date.

9-13-06 - called NVC, they stated case was forwarded to Lagos on Sept. 11th and Dans interview is Oct. 19, 2006. Thank you dear lord.

10-19-06 - Dan had his interview and was approved. Will pick up visa on Wed. My king is finally coming home. Visa wasn't ready, had to go back on Mon. Oct. 30th to pick it up. Has it in hand.

11-17-06 - Dan arrives at Detroit Metro Airport at 11:00 a.m. This is one happy day for us.

11-25-06 - Dan receives his social security card.

12-06 - Dan receives 3 welcome letters and his green card shortly afterwards.

So sorry to see your long wait. It is so frustrating. It is really a bummer each month to find out they have not scheduled an interview yet. I think contacting a senator is a good idea. It certainly couldn't hurt.

i dont know if this will help or not, but maybe u can try emailing them. my husband had an interview w/lagos embassy almost 2 yrs ago, and i do remember at that time i did email them a couple of times regarding his interview and i did get a response. i don't know if they still respond to email now, but i don't guess it would hurt to try. hope this helps.

Thanks all for the info. I have tried contacting the lagos embassy back in april and this is what they have said.

Thank you for your inquiry. Due to the large volume of applications, it may take some time before approved petitions are received and entered into the system. Applicants are contacted in the order the petitions are received.

I think lagos is speeding up a little bit. The last interview i heard scheduled for June was of Oct 25th completion date. which is good considering they were stuck on september completion dates for like 3-4months. I got the same canned response of large volume of apps from the embassy. I really don't think the senator will help because they are scheduling in order of completion dates and they will tell the senator the same thing. I don't know why the backlog but they haven't had a large quota for a while according to NVC so i am hoping that they are speeding up now.

07/22/05 K-3 leaves NVC to Lagos

08/08/05 Hubby picks up interview packet from embassy

11/17/05 K-3 interview (denied, C.O refused to take co-sponsor for k-3)

01/03/06 NVC assigns case number

02/15/06 Case complete (thank you James Shortcuts- only 6 weeks!)

04/19/06 tired of waiting, filed k-3 #2 ( petition is still lost in oblivion)

09/11/06 NVC scheduled CR-1 interview/ on to Lagos (thank God after 7 months of waiting!)

Rose I think the going time on CR1s in all consulates is 6 months. It was and still is in the ME and Islamabad forums. I hope you can get one soon.

I'd get the Senator involved only if this stays within the NVC for now. Having them "rush" folks there in lagos might create a backlash at the interview. Not sure that it would but from all I've read here about that post, I'd be concerned about the possibility. If the Senator can push a little at the NVC, I'd say go for it.

I have heard people say do and don't (based on how it will look in Lagos). I would say go for it myself, if you thought your senator would be useful. I contacted mine and they were no help at all (mine was stuck in NVC). Well, that's not completly true. They said they couldn't do anything after they made their inquiry, but their inquiry allowed NVC to "find" our documents and so they did get processed shortly after the senator got involved (well actually I think it was the represanitive). Anyway, I guess my opinion is that it won't really hurt things (my opinion) but it won't help either. Good luck. I remember how frustrating the seperation was.

Hi Rose (F),

I actually e-mailed my senator for assistance after we waited endlessly for an interview date to be scheduled. After two weeks of waiting and yet no reply, I express mailed a letter to U.S. Consul General, Lagos, Brian L. Browne requesting his assistance in expediting the matter. (I figured if anyone would have clout in getting the interview date scheduled, hands down it would be him :lol:) Well, I don't know if the letter to Mr. Browne helped or not, but what I do know is this... Within two weeks of delivery confirmation of the letter, my senators office emailed me stating that they checked into the matter and the interview was scheduled for December 23, 2005.

How have you and hubby been?

I have sent out my letter last Friday to my senator and hope this will help and will give Mr. Browne a try if I dont hear anything.
