Thats the thing with Gardisil it hasn't gone through all the stages of testing like other drugs and vaccines do, the guy that made it made such a good sales pitch the US fda or what ever believed it and then Canada fell for it. Has'nt anyone noticed how this drug got into Canada so fast usually it takes an extra 3 to 5 yrs before Canada will allow a new drug on the market. And thats on top of the testing the US puts in through. So some body is getting alot of money here.

As for not getting the vaccine use the Catholic church for some back up, the Catholic Church and Schools in Sault Ste. Marie On, would not allow the Algoma Health Unit to give this Vaccine to the grade 8 girls, i'm sure if you talk to your family Doctor and tell them how you feel maybe they can can right you a letter to avoid it. I did not get it for my daughter and there is no way in hell i would.

My kids pediatrician said it was unsafe and would not give it to any of his patients. Let me tell you what he said, they dont know what the side affects long term are cause they didnt do their home work. When you put some cells into a dorment state other cells then can become active. The cells that they know about cause cancers, and what not can be monitored with paps. As for all the cells that have been laying in a dorment state, before someone gets Gardisil stay dorment. Then someone gets Gardisil and those once dorment cells can become active and the doctors and all the ppl out there have no clue what these new active cells can turn into. Thats the part the doctors fear the most. Not the side affects they already no about.

We are not dealing with one or two cells there are thousands of cells and they only know about a few and they can be monitered affectively without this drug.

Ok thats my bit on why it will never get to my daughter

and sorry I know theres got to be lots of typos hope i made sense in there

Just one other quick thing....I know what you guys are going through, those of you who are close to the age limit and struggling. In some countries it is not necessary to get any vaccinations for a K1 visa, in Canada though, unfortunately, they're required. Vancouver told me that specifically if all my vaccines weren't up to date I would not be receiving my visa. I'm fairly certain that Montreal says the same thing, but I haven't talked to them personally. I sympathize with you guys. Making people get a vaccine like that is ridiculous when it isn't mandatory anywhere else.

I'm 24 now and I had to get mine for the medical. I went to Dr. Seidens in Toronto at the begining of May and it appears that Montreal requires and enforces it also.

I was hoping to just have the one shot and not get the full three, but from the abovementioned post it looks like I'll need it for AOS. Neither my fiance or I are happy about it and I have a lot of family that works in healthcare who weren't impressed with it either, but I'm not going to let the visa process suffer for it. I'm still hoping to avoid it once I get there, but we'll see.

I think both the physicians and the consolate expect applicants to remain quiet and submit to their authority, but according to the USCIS website they are in the wrong as it explicitly says "... must undergo a medical exam, but are not required to comply with the vaccination requirements at that time. They will be required to comply with the vaccination requirements when they apply for permanent residence." So what gives? How can they call their own shots and force-inject people with a vaccine that is not even an essential health risk to the public. I call foul on that.

I'm pretty sure that Gardasil is not required for AOS. That was the thing that really bugged me about the whole thing. It's required to get the visa, but not required once you're in the country. Apparently, all consulates and countries run things differently movieclockstar. There are lots of countries that follow the rule that you've mentioned about not having to comply with vaccination requirements. It has always puzzled me that Canada isn't one of them. As I understand it it's cheaper to get the shots in Canada than the USA but it's still kind of crazy that there isn't an option like there is in a lot of other countries.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It's frustrating, but we're not going to give up and resign to taking Gardasil just yet. If, after we exhaust all options, it is inevitable then so be it. We'll be sure to let everyone know if we find a loophole or if we receive a definitive answer from anyone.

A new associated question: If we are approved in October as we expect, the NOA2 is valid for 4 months. However, if we're able to extend it for another 4 months and postpone the interview, my fiancee could wait until after her 27th birthday to take the medical and, well, you get the picture.

So is anyone familiar with the procedure to request an extension on that NOA2 expiration? Would this plan even work?

I don't know about that, but would you could do is delay in sending back package 3 and then that way they won't issue an interview date until they have it from you...then in turn, delay in booking the medical.

That would work and was going to be my option if I got my NOA2 too early...mine worked out well, I had my medical the Monday after my birthday.

Best of luck!

yes. At the canadian consulates they will not mark your medical as complete if you do not have all required vaccines for your age group. You can try to get a waiver to get out of it on moral grounds but its usually hard to do and can about 3 months to your timeline, approved or not. Doctors (if they are ethical) should not lie for their patients to say they are allergic just to avoid getting it. It sucks if you are against the vaccine but its what we have to do. I got the shot and am perfectly fine.

Well, I'm not going to have Gardasil complete before my interview. I think they're okay that you started it, but you have to finish it for AOS anyway.

Oh yeah, mine won't be finished either. They are ok as long as its started. I didn't want all 3 up here as Wes's insurance will cover the shots for me when I'm down there and I like $30 much more than $150....though I'm going to have to get the 2nd one in like a week or 2 :( bah. I hate needles so much, stare at the ceiling the whole time

im so piss.... it will add up 4 more months if i opt for the waiver and everyone is getting ready for the wedding in november or december... on the other side i dont even know what i could write in that damn waiver cause im sure my reason to not want it are not a good reason... and its just that one not all of em... im scared really i don't know what to do i feel trap...

and you say i need all my shots by AOS ?? i don't want it at all if i am forced to take the 1st one only at least its the less dangerous one... but i have to take the rest for sure ?? or if i can pass the AOS even without having the 2nd and 3rd if its not yet the time for my second shot since its 2months delay
