I-129f sent from Detroit via Priority Post this afternoon! I am already tempted to start checking the tracking number

This is going to be a looooong bunch of months!

Oh, and someone on here suggested taking a pic together with a newspaper as proof of meeting -- I don't remember who it was, but Thanks! We took a really cute pic with yesterday's Chicago Tribune :)

  • 7/7/08 -- I-129f sent
  • 7/9/08 -- I-129f received at CSC
  • 7/24/08 -- NOA1 (finally!)
  • 12/2/08 -- NOA2 (WOOT!!!!)
  • 12/8/08 -- received at NVC
  • 12/22/08 -- packet 3 (with packet 4 attachment instead of checklist :P)
  • 12/29/08 -- packet 3 sent back with bits and pieces that I pulled together to make up a packet 3
  • 1/5/09 -- actual packet 3 received, but found out by via e-mail that they were satisfied with what I had already provided
  • 2/10/09 -- found out via call to DoS that my interview is scheduled!
  • 3/16/09 -- interview!!!! APROVED!!!
  • 4/7/09 -- MOVE!!!!!!!!
Crossed at Detroit/Windsor Tunnel... pretty painless, about 45 minutes, inexperienced officer, asked for and received EA stamp
  • 4/13/09 -- Married in New Orleans!!!!!!!!
  • 5/30/09 -- Filed AOS/AP/EAD
  • 6/1/09 -- AOS etc received in Chicago

Ok, if that doesn't melt the reviewing officer's heart, they're dead inside!

Congrats on joining the numerous obsessed/obsessors!

Ha!

Officially the rules say no visiting allowed; unofficially it is totally possible.

Have a return ticket, if flying and a letter from your employer saying you will be returning on such-and-such a date and something to show you live in Canada (rental agreement, etc.).

:star:

SpiritAlight edits due to extreme lack of typing abilities. :)

You will do foolish things.

Do them with enthusiasm!!

Don't just do something. Sit there.

Yes, I hope like hell that's not going to be a problem for me! We have a trip to Belgium planned in September, for which we are flying out of Chicago. It will be pretty devastating if I am not allowed in to make that flight! :o

I have been with the same employer for pretty much ever, own a house here, and most importantly, have a son here... surely they couldn't possibly think that I might be shifty about things!

I wouldn't worry, I have travelled numerous times to Philly during the process and I had all my evidence ready... Work letter, bills to my address, pay stubs, car insurance papers, return ticket!! Not once have they even questioned me about my Visa application, I don't know if they can tell when they swipe your passport? But as long as you're prepared, that's what's important!

I have travelled numerous times to the US while my visa is being processed and (touch wood) have never had any problems. We even flew together to Punta Cana in April from JFK and didn't have any problems.
