I just recieved a letter on Saturday for my AOS Interview!! I thought I was going to have to wait for at least another year for this, wow it snuck up quicker than I expected it too. God is sooo good, what an answer to prayer. The interview is for June 23 in Memphis TN. I just have a few questions if thats alright regarding getting my information together for the interview.

1. Gov't issued photo identification - will my ead card and or passport suffice for this? just asking because my ead card is in my married name where my passport is not.

2. A completed medical examination - I had this all done last may just before my interview in vancouver but i've heard on here it has to be within a year of eachother. Is that true and if so I guess I have to do it all over because i'm a couple weeks over the year or will i be alright?

3. Affidavit of support(I-864) - Of course we have already submitted this in our K-1 interview so do I need to redo this? or should i just update it? My husband has switched jobs since then should I just update what i need because of that or do i have to redo the entire thing?

4. Documentation supporting our relationship - I don't have a whole lot of this because I just recently recieved my EAD and am still waiting on my Social Security Number and they won't issue anything to me or allow me to even be on our lease until i can provide them with a number. What do I do in this situation when i'm not on bills and so on because of this? I am on his health insurance and car insurance, and i can get a letter from our church stating we just became members together, and so on. Will that be enough?

Thanks everyone, ttyl

Congrats on getting your interview date! And good luck, I'm sure it'll go great!

I think your EAD and passport will be fine. Do you have a social security card still in your maiden name? Or anything else in your married name? I'd bring those, as well.

As far as I know, your medical must have been completed sometime in the past year. If not, you must have another one. Which totally sucks. :(

I would complete another I-864 with all your husband's new information. I would get it notarized, as well, but some on VJ don't do this.

As for documentation supporting your relationship, just bring everything you have! Photos, wedding cards, health and car insurance stuff...it should be sufficient.

Good luck! :luv:

Congratulations.

If you completed the medical as part of the K-1 visa in Vancouver, then you do not have to do another medical unless you are specifically requested to do so. You should be prepared to present the Vaccination Supplement, however, which needs to be done by a civil surgeon here in the US based on the information written on the vaccination worksheet done at your physical. you should have received a copy of the worksheet.

The K-1 Affidavit of Support is not considered binding. When you submitted your AOS package you should have provided another Affidavit of Support on a different form - that one is considered binding. Since your husband's financial circumstances have changed since you sent off the last Affidavit of Support you should prepare a new one based on his current circumstances and supported by the necessary documents - ie letter from his employer, W-2s, etc.

Your passport will be fine for Government provided identification. Your marriage certificate will support the name change to your married name.

Everything that you list sounds good. Yes, have the pastor or minister of the church write a letter that you have joined together as a married couple; if you filed 2005 taxes as a married couple (you didn't state when you got married), then bring a copy of the taxes. Bring any corresondence addressed to the both of you even if it is junk mail. One VJer included their video rental membership showing both names so that is something you mght be able to do. If you have prepared your wills listing each other as beneficiaries and spouse, include those - and those are something you can do before the interview; life insurance or retirement policies listing each other as beneficiaries are good; letters from your spouse's family verifying that the two of you are living together in a valid marriage; letters from friends and neighbours stating that you are living together in a valid marriage, all of these help to establish your relationship.

Good luck

CanGal,

I am in the same situation as you. I have no EAD, no SSN, but my husband and I will have an AOS interview pretty soon.

We tried to add me to my husband's bank account back in March, but they told us they cannot do it since I have no SSN. We went to another branch of the same bank a week ago, and having no SSN was not a problem there. So we have a joint bank account now!

I was told by a reliable source to bring only documentation of what has changed like a 2005 tax return, new family pictures, SSN card, US drivers license, updated inoculations.

This person told me everything that has been submitted up to our filing the AOS will be in the immigration officer's posession.

I see no reason to do another I-864 if you only need last year's tax return. Same with birth certificates, divorce decrees etc. the file USCIS has will be fairly thick by now.

Memorize your spouse's biographical information and have them memorize yours. This is what the officer will be looking for, proof that you have a real marriage.

Thanks everyone, looks like i just might have to redo the I-864 just because he's switched jobs and now i dunno if we need a sponsor or not. Whats the poverty line we have to be above here? And about the vaccination form, i never recieved a vaccination form, i have a booklet though that has everything marked off that i've been vaccinated for, is that sufficient enough??

thanks oyen :) it is exciting and nerve racking all at once. I am confused about this medical thing. I had my medical done last year for my k-1 visa interview and it was submitted when i entered the country. What is this vaccination thing everyone is talking about by a civil surgeon?? I have an immunization booklet the doctor checked off saying which ones I had done. Is that all i need ?? or is there more too it than that?

(Quote) When you apply to adjust status in the States, assuming you as a K-1 holder apply within one year of the original medical, you need an I-693A. This is USCIS'S VACCINATION SUPPLEMENT. Here's where it gets tricky! Some people have submitted a DS-3025 (obtained overseas at your medical documenting your vaccinations) with their AOS package and have NOT received RFE's. Some HAVE. If you want to be absolutely safe in terms of your medical documentation as a K-1 adjusting status, you should take your DS-3025 to a USCIS-certified civil surgeon and ask them to transfer the information from your DS-3025 to an I-693A. They should do this for a nominal charge. If they try to tell you you need a full medical examination, DO NOT LISTEN. You ONLY need the vaccination supplement. The following memo from the USCIS documents that this completed form will remain valid beyond one year when submitted with most Adjustment of Status applications.

http://uscis.gov/graphics/lawsregs/handboo...edExt011106.pdf

The civil surgeon should give you an I-693A documenting the fact that your vaccinations are complete (either they were completed when you had your medical or you had them completed stateside). You should submit this with your AOS package.(Quote)

This sounds like only when you are applying for AOS does this regard me to my interview as well??? My Interview letter only states to had in medical information if not submitted already. Mine was submitted at the border when I received my I-94. So do I not need to do this again?
