I don't think there is anything wrong with a kid feeling sad from watching a movie .... just the same as if he would feel happy or laugh..

yeah it would be nice to keep our children from feeling sad but that isn't realistic...

Marilyn your hapiness is on the computer. You spend more time on the computer than with the hubster! :P Its obvious ;)

umm was that necessary??

yep, it was! Its totally obvoius

 what does my happiness have to do with the topic at hand??

I didn't make a dig at you or anything... I don't think it was fair for you to make a dig at me

I agree it's pretty over the line and totally inappropriate for this thread, though not out of character for the poster.

It's getting off the chart great reviews.

Yep. It's just that some of the Right Wing media outlets are griping about the social commentary of the movie. All of sudden, they've become the PC crowd. Amazing, isn't it?

I think some of it is the scene where the BnL boss said "Stay the Course" behind the podeum that looked strangely like the one for the President of the United States of America

Olga and I both liked the movie alot! yes it was dark but the ending was quite a happy ending with the people returning to Earth!

Of course the love story was too cute....

I thought it was a great movie. It had nothing to do with Americans being fat and lazy. If you failed to remember it was the entire world that was evacuated. It is an American made film but it had nothing to do with putting down America.

It is good your son came out of the movie sad because it evoked some sort of emotion, something about it made him think. Thats what movies should do.

However I didn't see it as incredibly dark or sad. Sure this is what the world could look like one day, but it wasn't preachy, it was a love story. I thought it was a beautiful film.

Yeah right! Its good that my son was sad after the movie? The evocation of sadness through a childrens movie is good? Your fckin nuts! Kids should never be put through that.

Your future is obviously dark and dim. You thrive on it! Thank god ppl like you werent around when our country was founded.

You have obviously are buyin into the we are trash syndrome!

When did I say I was buying into the "we are trash syndrome"? You obviously don't understand a thing I said.

You sound like an incredibly angry person. You don't know what I thrive on, so you can stop with the assumptions.

Theres no need to get personal and rude. That's just really immature.

I have a friend who saw it and liked it but went on and on about how sad it is that we are all fat and lazy. She tends to be a negative person though. I was like, oh I thought it was a fun movie.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

I distinctly remember crying while watching Bambi (anti-hunting agenda!) and Lady and the Tramp (egalitarian nonsense!). Of course, Disney has always been Commie pinko. And Old Yeller--don't get me staaated!

I thought the movie was fairly uplifting. Despite completely trashing the Earth, there's still /hope/ (esp. at the end when the camera pans out & shows the green sprouting outside of the city); also, Wall-E and EVE got to live happily ever after. I remember The Lion King, Bambi, The Fox and the Hound, Lady and the Tramp...all being MUCH sadder. As in, I like freakin' cried sad.

Yeah that Death scene in Bambi is notoriously depressing.

Have you see Watership Down - with the cartoon rabbits savaging each other?
