Nana Adu-Sarkodie, 30, also known as Sam, has been charged with the attempted murder of 31-year-old Bridgewater resident Christopher Edmundson, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said.

Somerville police received a 911 phone call at about 8:23 p.m. Sunday from Erika Mcgill, 24, about a dispute at her Mechanic Street home.

Mcgill told police her ex-boyfriend, Adu-Sarkodie, arrived at her house unexpectedly and began fighting with Edmundson, her current boyfriend.

During the fight, Adu-Sarkodie brandished an approximately one-foot long butcher knife and stabbed Edmundson once in the head causing him to fall to the ground, Mcgill told police. He then stabbed Edmundson twice in the back with the weapon while he was on the ground, according to Forrest.

Edmundson was treated at an area hospital for his injuries.

Adu-Sarkodie, described as 5'7" tall and weighing 170 pounds, was last seen driving a 1999 Mazda 626, with a New Jersey license plate, WNU-77L.
