Hey Everyone, I hope you are having a great day or evening :)

I have a question concerning the affidavit of support (K1 Visa). what are the steps?

i know that I-134 should be filled. But where should it be notarized? at USCIS?? ..... and after it is notarized, should it be mailed to USCIS, to the beneficiary or to the consulate?!

Also, what about the tax return, letter from employer, etc... should they be submitted along with the I-134 or are they part of it?

Finally, what about co-sponsoring. Will they be two separate forms, or the same one? (my fiancée and her brother who will be the co-sponsor, currently live in different u.s. states).

Thanks for the help on these 3 questions. We need to get started on this, and our petition has already left NVC...

your answers will be crucial to helping us organize things.

Thanks!

one more thing.... :D

if the petitioner needs to fill the I-134 form and sign it, this means we should get the form from ANY source? i.e. on the NVC website? or is there anything specific to the form requiring beneficiary to send to the petitioner the copy received from the consulate in packet 3?!

He Rebel,

For question 1, any licensed notary in the U.S. can notarize the form. The 1-134 should be sent to you so that you can send it with the packet 3 forms.

for question 2, Yes the tax return etc. go with the I-134.

For question 3, I am not sure, but based on past experience with this process l would have the co-sponser do a separate I-134 with their supporting documents.

Wishing you all the best

The procedure for getting the I-134 in the hands of a Consular officer varies by Consulate. For China, you carry it to the interview and hand it over only if and when asked. Some Consulates do want it sent in with the P3. Follow the instructions from your Consulate.

Fiancee and brother each provide I-134 and supporting documentation as instructed. If the qualified sponsor has sufficient income all references to assets can be left blank, as can those from the non-qualifying fiancee.

Sign before any US notary. They need not be the same one for each form.

Thanks a lot to both of you!

so, basically, any I-134 will do? downloaded form the net? I won't have to wait for the packet to be received from the consulate, correct?

Also, when you say "sufficient income", you mean at least 125% above poverty line, that's all what is needed right?

Thank you and best of luck. :star:

You should always check with the USCIS website to make sure you have the current forms. No, you dont wait for it from the Consulate. You download it and usualy send it to your fiance. Although, as pushbrk stated, every Consulate is different. Usually 125% is sufficient income but you will want to check with others who filed through Lebanon to find out what exactly is needed from you. Everything else you need to know is in the Guides and FAQ's.
